  1. I pulled the serpentine belt off my 2004 996 w/ Tip to check for a whirring noise. The tensioner pulley did fell a bit rough and little wobbly. While the belt was off, I noticed that the alternator pulley was wearing oddly. The grooves were unevenly worn, as if some portions of the groove peaks were missing. Has anyone seen this before?
  2. Do you remember the brand and/or model number of the Pep Boys horns? Will any old horn do? I need to replace my horn(s) and would like louder ones.
  3. Thanks for the reply. What are your general impressions with the Hankooks? What did you have before?
  4. I am looking to replace my Michelin PS2 N1's. I do some DE and autocross and occasional daily driving. Serious sticker shock on the Michelin's, so I'm looking at the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110's at less than 1/2 the price of the Michelin's. Sizes are 295 (or 305)/30/19 and 235/35/19. Are the V12's up to the task of occasional track / DE use?
  5. I have what I think are 8.5x19 and 11x19 Champion RG5 Monolites on our 2004 996 Carrera. IIRC, tires are 235/35/19 and 295/30/19 Michelin Pilot Sport N1's. The tire label on the gas door says 36 psi front and 44 psi rear. Would these pressures be correct for my larger wheels and tires? I also would occasionally use the car for DE's and autocross. Would the pressures need to be raised for track use?
  6. What's the best way to reboot the CDR-23? Pull the fuse or ???
  7. Our 2004 996 has a CDR-23 that won't play. Push on the left knob and all I get is PORSCHE on the face display, no sound. I did notice a blinking red LED in the dash just above the radio before it started acting up. Any ideas?
  8. Here's one source. They also have a cheaper one with no illumination. http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/euromirro.html?Category_Code=POTE996IN (note: I have no affilitation with these guys. I'm just a customer) I'm sure other places carry this as well. Great, that's exactly what I need! BTW, did you have to transfer your old mirror to the new assembly? If so, what is difficult? I used to live in the Tampa area, so I know them.
  9. Thanks for the reply. Did you order just the visor mirrors or the complete visors? What are the part #'s?
  10. The driver side mirror flap pivot point (on the flap itself) recently broke off / disintegrated on our 2004 996 Coupe. Is the mirror flap avaliable separately or with the lighted mirror assembly, or do you have to buy the entire visor? For that matter, are the visors or visor parts even avalilable new anymore? I would really prefer a factory fix and not velcro it in place.
  11. Update for Becker CDR23 and CDR220 Radio Knobs: Becker contacts: website (same)- http://www.beckerautosound.com/ website part listing - http://www.beckerautosound.com/parts/index_porsche.html phone 201-773-0978 fax 201-961-1936 email - parts@beckerautosound.com Becker part number = 1285.815, price $12.40 each Porsche part number = 996-645-901-00, price $25.65 each (local dealer)
