  1. this happened to me one month ago here are the steps i took to resolve: - make sure you have a good battery - remove and reverse the placement of the battery in the key (reverse the poles to reset) - hold the door "lock/unlock" button down for a few seconds - remove the battery once again and put it in the "correct" way - place key in the ignition - hold the door "lock/unlock" button down while turning key to the "on" position - remove key from the ignition and test - your remote should be fully functional if this procedure does not remedy the issue, a new remote will be required -T -T
  2. i am interested in a diy day as well. -T
  3. this happened to me this summer. check your power steering fluid reservoir. top up if needed.
  4. hello friends - can anyone comment on how to change out the power steering reservoir & lines. i suspect a leak. i was wondering if anyone has tackled this project. pictures would be helpful. regards.
  5. you may want to have your throttle body cleaned as well. i am bringing a can of carb cleaner for anyone who wants to use some. -T
  6. i would like to get the throttle body of my boxster cleaned
  7. can you outline the the instructions to clean the throttle body and the idle control valve. pictures of the items would be appreciatedl. -T
  8. hello folks, many thanks for the response. i tried to "reset" the microswitch by engaging/disengaging the parking brake several times in rapid succession - all to no avail. i purchased the microswitch from a local porsche dealer. i removed the anchoring screws from the center console, lifted and shifted the entire assembly to the right; exposing the handbrake assembly. the microswitch is clearly visible. you have to pry the switch out (a flat head screw driver helps) and remove the wiring. replacing the new microswitch takes a bit more time as you have to negotiate the plastic pin/receiving hole. the total time expended on this task was approx 35 minutes. many thanks once again to all who responded. regards.
  9. hello folks, does someone have detailed instructions on how to replace the e-brake microswitch. it seems that my e-brake light is not illuminating when engaged; which is further causing top inoperability issues. regards.
  10. forgot to mention - source your parts from: sunset imports 4050 sw 139th way beaverton, or 97085 800 346-0182 excellent pricing - no sales tax
  11. the part number for the oil separator is 996.107.023.03 - i have a 2000 box s. i believe that the iac valve is part of the throttle body, please verify with jeff lopez (a.k.a. tool pants). i rarely use my ac.
  12. i did not clean the throttle body / iac valve. i had been noticing rev fluctuations for quite some time. no codes were being thrown. one friday, just driving along, a cel came on. i took it to the dealer (carlsen), they traced it to a bad oil separator - and replaced it. i asked them to clean out the iac valve. they told me they could not find it (???). during the next diy session i intend to clean the throttle body / aic valve.
  13. actually, i had the same problem. i am the one who posted on PCA: http://www.pca.org/tech/tech_qa_question.a...6-F94296717EDC} it turns out that i had a bad oil separator. the oil separator is now changed - the problem is gone.
  14. gentlemen, thank you for your response. i will attempt the dealer/pcna route once more. failing that, i will attempt what jeff suggested. regards.
  15. hello folks, i have been noticing an engine idle fluctuation over the past several months. i have an unmodified engine/exhaust & a stock air filter (2000 box s). the problem is when i am at stoplights. the revs drop down to where a slight shuddering is felt (like its going to stall), then they go back up. this continues for the duration of the stop. i have had the maf changed/reprogrammed, but to no avail. do any of you folks have any insight into this? regards.
  16. i would like to change my polyrib belt. see you saturday. -T
