  1. Just read post on rear wing and learned that control unit is under seat. Does anyone know which seat its under and what it looks like? (picture.)

I need to disconnect it to eliminate the warning lights when going over 50mph.

    Thanks.

  2. I replaced the Electric Wing on my 1992 964 cabriolet with a Whale Tail. My dilemma is the car still thinks I have the Electric Wing, when I reach 50 mph and then slow to a stop. I get the dreaded "Exclamation" warning light. I removed the 15amp fuse to the wing, but no help. Any suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Victor

  3. I bought a 2003 911 C2 last year for the purpose of resale. The women I bought it from sent me all the paperwork including an invoice from a Porsche dealer in Colorado that stated a new engine was installed in 2006 at no charge. The engine was overnighted from Germany. When I carfaxed the Vin there was no mention of the new engine installation. Talked to my local Porsche dealer in Dallas and he said Porsche does not like to mention the problems with 996 engines. When you carfax the car your interested in, see if the new engine install is listed.

  4. Yours is a C2, so you won’t have the known issues caused by a split tank that the C4 has, however there are a few anomalies with the readings for fuel which are well discussed if you do a search.

If you have a handbook and follow the rule of thumb they advise you shouldn’t have any problems, if you do, your sender might be at fault.

Fill up as soon as possible after the warning light comes on, and don’t try and squeeze every last ounce into the tank once the fill nozzle knocks itself off. The fuel gauge indicator gives an estimate of mileage left not an accurate figure and if you only put a very small amount of fuel in, the gauge might not move at all, this is normal, as it only registers when filled above a certain level.
Despite me saying all this, it does sound like your sender may be at fault. A good indie will be able to replace this.
Let us know if you sort it out.

    Thanks, will do.
  5. I agree that the car you looked at was overpriced and overvalued. Be patient and try to find one with as may options and lowest miles possible. I was fortunate in that I found a 99 C2 Carrera Tiptronic with 48,00 miles, full leather interior, heated seats, rear wiper, optional wheels, aero kit, etc. for $24,500. last May. Bought on eBay from a private owner in Boston. Not a scratch on the car. I'm happy as a clam. Did a carfax and it checked out perfect. There are more of these nice ones out there. Do your homework and look at as may cars as you can before you pull the trigger.

  6. My 2003 911 needs a new amplifier. It's a Bose Part # 996.645.333.02. My question is; is this the only part# that will work with this particular car and radio?

E-Bay has a few amps with different part numbers but the amps all look the same. Is there somewhere I can go to look up what different part numbers will

    work with this car?

    Thanks,

    Victor

  7. I bought a 2003 911 6 speed, with 32k. Had new motor installed at 20k by dealership in Colorado. Clean CarFax. During transport the hood blew open and smashed the windshield and

damaged the roof. It's now at the dealership in Dallas, Texas. Before purchase the woman who owned the car told me that the bumpers had some damage and sent pictures. The damage seemed slight at the time. Long story short, insurance from the transport co. will cover the $6000. damage to the hood etc, and the dealership wants $3100. to replace and paint front and rear bumpers. Sounds high, but they all sound high. Any comments are welcome. The color of the car is midnight blue metallic with gray leather and 18" turbo wheels. I plan to sell the car when repairs are done. I'm asking for "diminished value" from their ins. co. because the "accident" will show up on next CarFax. I don't know how successful I'll be with that. I'm probably going to list the car in the mid 30's because of the low mileage and it will look like new when all the work is done. It's got Bose optional sound and power seat package.

Thanks for listening. This is the first time I've had any problem with transport. The driver said the hood latch was broken. It wasn't listed on the description sheet when the car was picked up. My guess is that the car was on front top of the transport and going through Kansas the driver sat on the key or something and opened the hood at speed, although I would think that the safety latch would hold it down at any reasonable speed.

    Victor.
