  1. Have you tried to search? Lots of discussions like this one
  2. Clean the connectors of the sender or replace it completely.
  3. Because it costs around US$70 for the console tray down here in NZ, this is what I did to get a storage tray. 1. Remove the overall CD compartment 2. Remove the CD compartment from its faceplate 3. Remove individual CD tray from the CD compartment by pulling each one out. 4. This will leave the springs inside the compartment, which is a good thing as it stops whatever I put in there can't slid down to the bottom of the compartment. 5. Fit the faceplate back 6. Fit the whole thing back to the car
  4. Thanks for the feedback. Dropped the car off yesterday morning but it wouldn't get a look at until this morning. Driving around in a 2 litre Audi A3 diesel as a loaner from the dealer. Man! That thing spins its front wheel all the time. Will let you all know what's the verdict.
  5. The car is RoW 2003 C4 Tip, 67000kms, I thought I heard some tapping sound and unsure whether it was normal. So went to start the car today, surprisingly the oil pressure gauge stayed at 0. Then after putting my seat-belt on, the 'oil-can' failure indicator showed up. Oil level is fine, I've checked and checked again. Coolant level is fine and not contaminated. No leak whatsoever from the bottom. I've got AA to come and have a look. Started the car again and got 3.5 on the gauge, it was steady and not fluctuating. He thinks it might be the gauge but suggested to bring it to the garage. Already got an appointment for tomorrow morning at the dealer where I bought the car from. I managed to record some sound of the car which I'd appreciate if the experts here can offer their opinions on. It was taken facing the right side of the engine bay, just above the drive belt. I've also attached the picture of the indicator(s) misbehaving.
  6. Your coolant reservoir tank is leaking. Do a search here for more info. I'm glad it's not engine oil.
  7. Kereta baru eh. The plastic cover is 996 555 457 00 A 10 for Black. Was NZ $16 for me. Auto Atlanta, look for item # 9.
  8. I will be in the same situation in a few years time, although I don't think I'll spend $25k for his car. Any car can go as fast as it can with supercharger, turbos etc., but only certain cars that will be enjoyable to drive as well as being safe. You are heading in the right direction with BMW 328s (get the Coupe). They are a joy to drive, and they have all the safety features that you'd like your son to have. Airbags, traction control, 4-star safety ratings, pyrotechnic seat-belts etc., etc. , and more importantly they are 'normal' cars. For my son's first car, I'll get him a 318. Sure it's not fast or 'cool' looking, but at least it'll be safe and he'll be able to enjoy every drive.
  9. While it's convenient, $150 is quite a high price to pay just to save a few seconds. And I can't do anything else anyway while the top in operation.
  10. Get the build data based on your VIN. It should tell you which stereo you have.
  11. This is 180F, right? Because my temp. gauge only goes to 120C.
  12. I intend on taking this back to the dealer, and let them sort it out...
  13. I've just had this 2003 C4 Cab, UK spec, for a month or so, and today while checking underneath I discovered some oil forward of the engine. I've included a picture here, the car was jacked up from the left rear position. Will appreciate to hear what you guys think. Oil level seems to be fine. The Porsche workshop is closed for the holidays, and no one is answering the phone at the dealer. I'm going to follow this up tomorrow when everyone's back at work.
  14. Nice car. Congrats on your new toy. From across the ditch.
  15. Very nice, congrats. Must be a very good Xmas present!
  16. A side note, see the attached picture, why's that bolt not pointing straight down? It's actually at an angle, the same as at my car, which freaked me out a bit. I thought the previous owner had mounted a kerb and bent it!!
  17. Thanks for the P/N Loren. judgejon, that's something new I heard about NZ :)
  18. Hey, thanks a lot for the feedback. I've asked my parts guy for a quote on a new cap. Unfortunately since I'm in New Zealand i have to go through my 'official' Porsche dealer. Even then they sometimes have to order the parts from Germany since no one would have that specific part in stock. My wheel brace takes three weeks to get to Auckland, and hopefully will be here, in Wellington, tomorrow. So that I can take off my wheels!!
  19. So I've been to the engine bay (again!), poking around, as you do. Checking the coolant level, I was somewhat surprised by the dampness around the overflow(?) area under the coolant cap. See picture 1, this is the area I pointed out with the arrow. Is this normal? I have dried this area to see whether the same will happen again on the next drive. This is a weekend car so doesn't get out that much. I've heard that the coolant cap might need updating, mine ends with 01. The reservoir tank doesn;t have the full Max - Min indicators, see picture 2. Based on what's shown in the picture, I'd like to know whether my coolant level is adequate. The current level is indicated by the arrow in the picture. The car is a UK-spec, 2003 C4. Thanks for your feedback!
  20. Cheers for the clarification. I can't tell which audio system I have. Pulled out the right-rear speaker, and there is no audio manufacturer name at the back of the speaker. It only says Made In Germany. My CD changer looks like the bog standard Alpine setup, with Porsche stamped on its door. And it still works. As the car is UK spec I doubt there would be loads of people that have old Nav CD for Oz/NZ. Will be trawling fleabay though.
  21. Thanks all for chipping in. I thought the same too about some audio equipment that been removed. The stereo in the car sounds wonderful though while it's not Bose, it's sounds really good. I haven't tried to trace the cables specifically, obviously they disappear into the next section through a rubber grommet next to the power steering unit. Here's my spec sheet, and everything still works, except navigation. I can't get a disc for New Zealand as the car is too old for that. NZ discs are available only to 2005 and above system. 996 spec sheet.pdf
  22. I don't have electric seats (apart from the seat back), and my heated seats are working. The car is working fine.
