  1. AAAH, Yes the GT3 MAF tube is bigger. What is a BMC filter? Thanks!!!
  2. Thanks, But I am using my stock 997s MAF. I just wanted to DIY a free flowing induction system. I have a HKS filter and just needed a tube to mount the 997s MAF. The GT3 tube is just a plastic tube that allowed me to install the 997s MAF and mount the HKS air filter. I was just wondering why it runs slower and feels rich.
  3. Hello Loren, I used my MAF, that I plugged into the GT3 MAF tube from FVD. The only diff that I saw was that the unlike the stock 997-1S MAF tube, the GT3 MAF tube has the MAF positioned a little higher so it isn't as exposed to the air stream as the stock tube that unfortunately is molded in with the airbox. Could this be the cause of the bad metering? Is the GT3 MAF longer than the S MAF?
  4. Hello again!!! I was trying to fabricate a cold air intake using an HKS filter. I used a MAF tube from a buddy with a GT3. It is slightly larger. However, the plastic mesh screen was removed. I put everything together and started the car up. Idling was not too bad but a little rough. I tried running it and it ran slow like the car was so rich. My question is this, does the screen mesh make a big difference??? I know its there for a reason and I was told that it's only there for protection... Anyonne have ideas????? :renntech:
  5. dphatch, Thanks! That's where I figure it went. You have an idea between which runner it passes thru???
  6. Ahh so thats what its called... :thankyou: :renntech:
  7. Hello guys. How do you remove the MAF on a 997 S. The Torx screws holding it in place have a thin rod tha prevents you from using normal torx wrenches. You need one with a hole sto the rod willgo thru. Is this a special tool or can this be bought at a tool supply shop? Thanks
  8. HELP!!!! As I was changin the air filter element I noticed that the plastic hardline from the rubber vacuum hose to the intake manifold came loose. My quaetion is this... Where in the intake manifold does this plastic tube attach to??? I am getting no CEL but will it cause problems??? I have a shop manual but can't find anything on vac hoses... Please someone help me on this! Thanks.
  9. Is there a site I can go to to check out the battery sizes???
  10. Thanks Loren! What would be the best route to make 380+ hp? The X51 package is quite expensive :thankyou: :renntech:
  11. Hello to ALL!!! I am a little confused on the power rating of the 997S 3.8L. Some say 355 hp while others say 385 hp. I have an '06 997 s with a sports chrono package. How can you tell which is which???
  12. Thanks JFP! I had a sealed odysee battery in my '08 STi. It was really small to fit around the intercooler piping for the front mount intercooler. Had no issues and at full load gave out 13.7 volts. It was very light as well. I was never a fan of large batteries and thought I could put a smaller unit in the Porsche. I asked the local dealer here in the Philippines and their reply did not make much sense. Anyway, your suggestion sounds good. I just need to find the local distributor of the optima here in my neck of the woods...
  13. Thanks for the input!!! :thankyou: :notworthy: Sooner or later (probably sooner) I will invest in some sort of ECU tuning and mapping with a good wideband. Car runs great now with simple exhaust upgrades. At least for a change I have a car that has performance built in so I guess with proper tuning and goo d parts selection I can hopefuly make 400 WHP....
  14. My car is a daily driver. No problems with sub zero temps here in the Philippines! Nice install pics!!! THANKS!!! :thankyou:
  15. Thanks! :thankyou: I was thinking the same thing....
  16. Thanks Guys!!! I was just curious as my '08 STi does it in 13.4 sec. My 997s feels a lot quicker... Anyway only one way to find out
  17. Thanks!!! So far what seems to work was redoing the exhaust to remove the large and restrictive stock mufflers and 400 cel cats and fabricate a free flowing exhaust with 200 cel cats per bank. It's a little louder but pulls like crazy :thankyou:
  18. Hey Guys!!! I have a question on the battery, Why does it have to be so huge? Will fitting a small gel cel battery be ok?
  19. Hey guys!!! I just have a question on this subject. I know that freeing up the intake on some cars can make some HP. On other cars (like a Subaru STi) messing with the intake actually makes LESS power. My question is this, will a high flow intake system like KNN or the like be good for the 997 S??? I also saw some kits that blank of the resonance chamber and replace it with a silicon hose and advertise 15 HP gains with this mod alone. Following this logic, simply fabricating a blocking plate to the resonance chamber will do the same trick. Also what exactly is the purpose of this chamber with thits sensor and vacuum fittings???
  20. Just curious.... What sort of quarter mile times can a 3.8 997S with 200 cel cats and a high flow exhaust expect to make???
