    I'm having intermittent screen problem with the screen on my original na radio cd head unit. The screen is is grey with a couple lines but every now and then the proper screen pops up. All the features work. Is there a reasonable repair or replacement or is it time to replace head or entire system?

    Why should it have stayed without a hardtop? I live in Miami and am thinking of getting a hard top for my 04 996 TT to use from May thru mid October when it's to hot to put the top down. Wouldnt the hard top keep more heat out of the car in the summer? What are the drawbacks besides a little extra weight? Wouldnt it also stiffen the car for track days?

    It wasnt done by reading the DMEs. Originally he got the PST2 software and worked from there.

    On Durametric website they dont show support for Porsche models after 2015 but they now diagnose BMW including more recent models.

    Interesting. looks like Duran ( of durametric) has given uip on current Porsche diagnostics.

    Agreed. However once I find that cable will a PIWIS, PIWIS 2, or PIWIS 3 access and perform all rhebfuncti ok ns in a 996 997 Cup Car?

    Ladt week I was asked to assist with a PPI on a 2019 991.2 GT3 RS since I have a PIWIS 3. As part of the electronic check they requested to perform an oil level check. The PIWIS3 had checked everything else fine including a full VAL ( 111 pages) report. However when we tried to run the oil level check with the PIWIS it gave error message as shown in attachment . The car performed it's own oil level check fine. The 2 days later the same PIWIS3 ran the same check on a 991.2 fine but when plugged into a 991.2 GT2 RS it failed again but this time the message screen in the car turned red and stayed that way until the car had been driven about 15 minutes and then all was normal.

    Another problem may be the PDF PET hasnt been updated since 2005. If you need a supplement or additional TSB let me know and Illl search for it.

    I know most want to make their Pprsche faster. I know I'm in the minority that think my 996TT is more than fast enough as stock, however I am interested in the opposite... making t stop better. How much is the differnence in stopping distance between original 01 to 04 996TT brakes and installing a set of Big Reds?

    Avoid Prototech. I and many others on similar boards have had problems with and from them. Naples and Fort Lauderdale are 100 miles apart what area are you in and I'll give you better and more convenient.

    I've been using a PIWIS 3 for a little while and it works great and runs circles around the PIWIS 2. I found intro s faster and easier in almost every aspect except checking overrevs. In the PIWiS 3 I've had to run a full VAL ( about 98 pages) and then having to save as PDF and then reading the PDF. Anyone have a faster easier way to display overrevs on a PIWIS 3?

    What car and year and do you have PSY2? Durametric tool? PIWIS? Ofcourse the IPAS code for your Porsche?

    All dealers and most Porsche repair shops can get the codes ( from a dealer ) bit they will need your in AND registration in hand.

    I'm about to replace front and rear wheel bearings. Should I get sets from Porsche ( Porsche OEM included) or is there a better or preferential set. Keep in mind this is my daily driver ( I hate slow traffic ).

    Do you actually know the numbers involved? I"m surprised you think you have any idea what the actual numbers are.

    I think the LNN is overpriced and have heard from more than a few Porsche shops that LNN doesn't stand by their product after the 1 year warranty is up. I haven't heard of any failures yet from the EPS IMS upgrade/replacement.

    Best prices on 100% Sachs clutch kit for the 996TT is on eBay. It seems a Sach distributor is selling them below what I know a couple Porsche parts distributors can buy them at..

    I have the Porsche PCM system and was wondering how current an I upgrade the NAV system? And what audio upgrades, backup camera or such can I do without replacing the whole system? Two updates.. First. Yes the car is amazing and certainly more than fast enough without any mods. Secondly, I've been careful about the front lip but valet drivers don't seem to care so I bought a replacement off eBay. It looks almost identical bjtbuts a softer plastic so more forgiving. Best deal I've found for a porsche, only $72.

    Top fixed ( had cylinders rebuilt at less than half Porsche cost) and had to replace the front spoiler lip as EVERY valet would scrap and loosen the spoiler so finally I had to replace it. I bought a softer polyurethane one off Ebay for $70 and it looks great.
