  1. Upon further investigation found replacemnt part on line. Looks like an easy fix. https://www.amazon.com/Boxster-Convertible-Soft-Joint-Repair/dp/B07ZG2VV2F/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=Porsche+986+987+Boxster+Convertible+Soft+Top+Push+Rod+Ball+Joint+OEM+Repair+Kit&qid=1589230397&sr=8-2
  2. 2011 Boxster S Yesterday as I was opening my top I heard a pop. Now the top does not close properly. Further investigation shows the threaded nylon bushing at the end of the pushrod that raises the top on the driver side snapped. Has anyone every replaced this and is there any info on the procedure to do this? I looked at Sunset website and don’t know if I’m looking for the push rod or control rod which are different part numbers.
  3. On my 2011 Boxster S the clock and speedo stay on for a few minutes before turning off. Also the entire electrical system goes to sleep (meaning the remote of the trunk and hood release are inoperative) if I don't use the car after about 5 days. To wake up the electrical system I just open the door. I understand this is to prevent battery drain.
  4. I really get a sense of reward when I do things in my garage rather than just pay a shop to do it. However I'm curious as to what a typical shop would charge for this service?
  5. For those of you following this email string and want to be more informed on the failure issues and fixes for the IMS bearing I found the attached video by Pedro very informative:
  6. I have a 2011 Boxster S and below is what I use. 7. Thank you. Picture is worth a thousand words. Is it ok to reconnect without replacing O ring when flushing system?
  8. 2011 Boxster S Does anyone have experience removing and replacing the attached hose clamp shown below. This type of clamp is not shown in the Bentley Service Manual or the one from Pelican. Was getting ready to flush coolant system and never saw this type of clamp for the radiator hose. Is it easy to remove and replace?
  9. Thanks for the feedback. I learned something new. After a little research I learned that there is a difference between a Float and Trickle Charger. I have a Ctek model charger which is classified as a Float charger.
  10. If I also convert to an AGM battery will my existing Trickle Charger work? I thought I read in the past that charging this type of battery is different. Am I correct?
  11. http://www.porscheatlantaperimeterparts.com/productSearch.aspx?searchTerm=99761310950 Don't know if this is your problem but had a similar problem with a 2011 Boxster and it tuned out to be the clutch safety switch. Sometimes I could start and sometime I couldn't. There is a lot of threads on the internet about this problem for the 2009 Boxster.
  12. 2011 Boxster S Thought I would pass around that Interstate MTP-94R/H7 is an exact replacement for Porsche Battery 999.611.080.20. See photo below. I purchase the battery at local parts store. List price is $210.95. Initially quoted $169 but purchased at $148.90 after asking parts person if that is the best price he could give me. It has a 3 year free replacement warranty anywhere in the US. I plugged in a battery maintainer while changing and I kept all settings. When first started I had a PCM failure but everything reset after a few feet of driving.
  13. Thanks I purchased the airlift and I now feel comfortable to proceed.
  14. Thank you JFP for your detailed reply. Looking at the Bentley Service Manual I should be able to remove the splash shield, remove the drain plug and drain the coolant by supporting the car on jack stands in my garage. However, I'm not sure my compressor is going to have enough capacity to maintain 90 psi. Was wondering if anyone could comment if they used a 6 gallon compressor like mine to change the antifreeze?
  15. 2011 Boxster S https://www.ecstuning.com/News/Schwaben_Cooling_Maintenance_Tools/?utm_source=emailcampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=retail&utm_campaign=Schwaben_Cooling_Tools_0127201 In the above video it states to first drain all coolant from the system before proceeding. A few questions are below. What is the best way to drain the coolant on a Boxster? Can I do this with a 6 gallon Porter Cable Pancake Compressor? What should I set the pressure to? Or turn the compressor off and just use 6 gallon air volume in tank? How much anti freeze should i mix up in a 5 gallon bucket?
  16. With persistence I got the old filter out without damaging it. Becoming one with my Boxster S... Been a good weekend. Changed oil and filter, reset service light using Durametric, removed speaker box (see prior posts) accessed engine bay for first time, and replaced air filter. Next task replacing spark plugs but that is for another day..
  17. 2011 Boxster S Attached are three photos. Two photos show the existing filter in the engine bay with the cover to the air filter housing removed. The third picture is a photo of the new filter. I removed the end of the filter that is press fit over the oval lip. However, after several tires of manipulation of the filter there does not appear to be enough room to remove the filter from the plastic housing without damaging it. Wondering if the plastic housing comes apart (see red circles) but not clear how. Suggestions?
  18. Thank you JPG. I have been on this issue most of the day learning how to put top in service mode, disconnecting cable ball joints, using strap to support rear window and now just resolved removing speaker box. Attached is a photo showing carpet flap open and closed. Actually you push down on the tab while pressing to open carpet flap. I had to rotate the speaker box supporting one end on top of the truck to get hand on connector to disconnect. Will tackle replacing filter tomorrow morning.
  19. Attached is a photo showing the speaker wire going behind the roll bar. If the connector is located on the other side of the roll bar shown in photo I don't see how to access it. There is absolutely no slack in the wire. I was thinking the plastic tab circled may have something to do with releasing the connector. Pushing and pulling on it has not worked.

  21. 2011 Boxster S How do I remove electrical connection to speaker box mounted on top of engine cover? I found this site below that says press the tabs on the connector to release. I can't get my hand under the speaker box to get to the connector? http://www.pedrosgarage.com/Site_3/Accessing_the_Engine.html Without removing the speaker box i can't get the engine cover off to replace the air filter. Circled in the attached photo are the wires going to the speaker box and what appears to be a plastic tab that I haven't be able to figure out if its use in releasing the connector. Anybody have advice on how to proceed?
  22. See video below if not previous viewed. I have a 2011 Boxster S with the horn button sticking and I'm contemplating doing this myself. Since I never disconnected the battery I'm concerned if navigation and radio will reboot when reconnecting. Car was 2 years old when purchased and I don't have codes if needed. Car warranty expired this past April and dealer quote started at $350. I'm interested in how things go on your project.
  23. Thanks The Key is remove the bracket the switch is mounted to and then remove the switch....
  24. 2011 Boxster S I purchased the Clutch Pedal Pedal Ignition Lock Switch Part Number 99761310950 to solve the issue with car not starting. This switch is attached with one torx screw secured by a nut. I think is it is a T10 screw but there is note enough space to get my socket wrench with the T10 bit on the torx screw. I tried to tackle this by loosening the nut but can't figure out the the size. An 8mm is too large and a 7mm is too small. I tried SAE size wrenches and none fit. Any suggestions on what tools I need to loosen the screw and nut?
  25. Does it make a difference on the type of anti seize? I remember reading an article a long time ago that the type of metal being joined i.e. stainless steel, aluminum, steel requires different types of anti seize but don't recall the specifics. Or is this incorrect?
