Thanks! I noticed that the both right and left cylinder banks, the middle cylinder's spark plug sleeves are coated w/ motor oil. Wonder why the middle ones failed. Are they subjected to more heat? I will try to use a brass/rubber boat transom plug to pull that sleeve out the engine. www.pedrosgarage.com/Site_3/Change_Spark_Plugs_%26_Tubes.html

Loren, I just saw some coolant on the garage floor, right behind where rear right wheel is. (I just jacked up the back end of the car yesterday) I wonder if it is coming from where reservoir tank is connected to some main plumbing.

Just got back. I turned the key to the on position w/o starting the engine. No buzzing sound. It is buzzing (whatever it is) when the engine is on.

This is a new post regarding some maintenance work I am about embark on. my 98 boxster Spark Plugs: I got 6 of those NGK BKR-6EK, on the avg, how long do they last under normal driving condition. Ignition coil: How do I trouble shoot these coils (one per spark plug). besides visual inspection. Can I use multimeter for some resistance testing? At 116000 miles, while I got the car jacked up and both rear wheels out, should I do additional maintenance based work besides changing the rear brake pads? Any input is greatly appreciated! :)

Update, Today, I drained the motor oil and I don't see any sign of milky brownish mixture, instead the oil is just BLACK, I guess this is a good news for me. The reason is I suspected that there might have been oil/coolant mixture is that I started experiencing mysterious coolant loss, Fri night, the coolant indicator light came for the second time in 2 weeks. and the oil dip stick had some brownish fluid, I couldn't tell whether it was oil, or the mixture. I was also in the process doing some additional maintenance, I will start a new post on that, as I have a few questions about spark plus and coil. In the process, I also suspect that the car might have another problem. AOS, The car displays the symptons of AOS problem. a puff of white smoke at the start up of engine; lasts about 5 seconds and there is noticeable suction at the oil filler hole when I place my palm over it.

Loren, AC is NOT on. even w/ C8 & C10 fuses out, w/ the engine on. The buzzing sound is coming from both sides.

HI Guys, Just a quick update. So now the buzzing noise is coming from both front left AND right. ( it comes on when the engine is turned on) and it is very consistent. no longer intermittent. I took out the radiator fan fuses c8 and c10. and started the engine. the noise is still there. ( wouldn't taking those fuses disable the fans?) Do I need to look at some other problems?

Thanks! It seems that noise is done when I drove the car in the evening. This will probably be intermittent for a while, until it gets worse. I wonder if there is any write up the repair for this.

Hi Guys, Was wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing. ( boxster 98) After driving in 99+ temperature for a while, I would hear a buzzing sound coming from the front right area of the car, it seems to be coming from the radiator area. This happens while the engine is running and whether the car is moving or not.

I am in the process of replacing my worn out plastic window convertible top, I came across a few listings on the ebay, since some of you bought the top from the auction site. I have a 98, the top would only go down during HOT/Warm day time. I thought I would start troubleshoot the two fuses associated with the operation of top first. I looked around for a fuse layout diagram on the forum and couldn't find it, can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys! I have a 98 boxster with 5 speed. For the past year or so, I began to notice some funny smell inside the car, and it smells like mildew-ish. I also noticed the same smell from the vent on the side of the car. What can be the problem? If it were coolant, I don't notice any drop in the coolant level. Any input is greatly appreciated! :)

Does anybody know, if boxster S Suspension springs can be used for a 98 2.5 litre boxster, I bought my boxster used and it came lowered, I have been wanting to raise it back to the stock height. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!! Dsulu

I bought a used 98 boxster which came lowered. I want to raise it back to the original height. How can I tell if the springs were changed or shock were changed. Can a car be lowered with only changing shocks, this is because the springs on the car look original.
