  1. Not possible. I tried everything and got experts to help w/ no luck. I ended up buying a new head unit.
  2. I have a '02 Turbo, but I am posting here because there's more traffic and people who may know. I noticed that when I take my car into a parking garage and start driving around in 1st gear for a while, it will start this screeching kind of whining metallic sound from the drive train or something. The sound will disappear when I push the clutch in however. I can then engage 1st gear and drive a bit again, and it will eventually start up again. It's never immediate, it's more after having driven in 1st for a few seconds or minutes and almost always after having gone up a ramp or incline then reaching the top and driving/idling forward while still in gear. Any idea what this is? It doesn't seem to be harmful, but it concerns me obviously. I will have the dealer take a look and fix under warranty if there's something to be fixed, but I want to go into the dealer with an educated guess as to what it is.
  3. LOUD!!!!! :) I haven't heard either, but that would be my preference anyway. If you get this, I would be EXTREMELY appreciative if you posted a quality video link w/ sound or a quality sound file to hear the Turbo at WOT or idle or both w/ the new exhaust. It's hard to find good quality sounds of it. Dock has Europipe loud and swears by it. I'll get ot hear it when I get out to Atlanta this weekend.
  4. I just learned the part number for the washer seal on the turbo reservoir drain. PN 900-123-140-30 (aluminum) The DIY oil change for the TT should be updated to include draining the 2 turbos and replacing this washer. The turbos are removed using an 8mm Allen wrench.
  5. Hey Eric. (I'm assuming it's you from 6speed) I posted this exact question on the 996/997 DIY forum. The response was that it's pretty much the same. I'm removing my bumper this weekend to clean out all the stuff that gets back there. As for the sideskirts, I don't know. I'd also check on 6speedonline because there's a lot of Turbo people over there.
  6. Thanks Loren! So, for removing the bumper, do you think it is that big of deal to jack up on stands or not? I'd prefer to leave on the ground as long as that doesn't make it too easy to scratch the bumper cover as it's removed. Do I need any special tools? I'm not familiar with Torx. Is that the hex wrench? Sorry for the noob questions.
  7. I have a Turbo, but I figure the bumper is the same to remove... if not, sorry for wrong forum, but this one has more traffic. I want to take off the front bumper to get good access to radiators. Is it difficult to take off or to put back? Are there DIY instructions somewhere?
  8. Start with a glaze like 3M's. A glaze does not repair, it actually fills it in. It's the least abbraisve fix you can do. If it doesn't work, try something like a scratch remover that does actually "repair".
  9. If you experience oil starvation that means a combination of things.... 1) you've taken a long, high-G turn at crazy speeds 2) quit your day job, you're probably a better driver than most everyone out there. No offense, but I'm guessing by the questions you're asking that neither will be true. :) You shouldn't have to worry about the oil starvation issue. It's very rare and takes exceptional conditions to make it even possible including taking your car to 10/10th's which I hope you're not doing.
  10. Good thoughts. And yes, I have to add oil every now and then. I may do another change of just the oil (not the filter) in a few thousand miles anyway.
  11. Wow, that has me concerned. I wonder why I only had 6.5 quarts?? You know, I wonder if it would have drained more if I had the filter and fill cap off allowing air to come in behind the drained oil, and my closed caps created a sort of suction keeping it in the engine? Do you think that was it?
  12. I did both the crank and the tank. Still only got 6.5 quarts out or so. I let the crank drip for about 45 mins.
  13. I did the change. It was fairly easy. I didn't end up draining the turbos because my dealer sucks for parts and I wasn't sure if I needed a new sealing washer after opening them up. I will say this.... DO NOT add as much oil as the DIY here says. I measured what came out of the car, and it was around 6.5 to 6.8 qts. I put 7 quarts in, and it was filled with only 2 bars left. Had I done 8 qts, it would have been way over-filled. The rest of the DIY was very helpful.
  14. What size of crush washer? Thanks for the info! I'm headed out to buy the gloves and a turkey baster type thing now.
