Sorry if this is a daft question but I want to fit 16" wheels from a 986 boxster to my 1999 C4 996. I want to do this because I want to use narrow winter tyres. Can anyone tell me if they will fit?

Besides the balljoint on the lower control arm, I have seen the balljoint on what they call the track control arm get worn (part no 99733104504 is the latest, but there are many numbers for the same item). Worth getting TRW genuine ones in my opinion. You can flex the balljoint if it is worn. -

For some reason the inner tie rods can get clunky after not many miles. On one car the knock was very annoying and it has done just 37,000 miles. On another they were silent at 86,000 miles. They are not expensive or difficult to fit. A 32mm crows foot spanner makes the job easier though. -
Just to update this for anyone that comes looking for details. I turned the ignition on Disconnected the battery Waited 15 minutes Unplugged the control unit Removed the special nuts easily using a pair of water pump pliers Fitted the new unit (from a similar car of the same age) Reconnected connector and battery. Everything worked perfectly.

Thank you for the info. Is it correct to say that disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes is enough to make the system safe? p.s. This forum is invaluable. Making my contribution now.

My 99 996 has the airbag light on, and my Durametric gives the following codes: 3- Supply voltage 131 - internal module fault From a little research here, I suspect that the module really is faulty. I have located it (under radio). Apparently it contains a battery, and I can see that it has special nuts to prevent removal. I would appreciate any help. Paul

I am considering doing this with my 85,000 mile 1999 C4. Theres a few rattles. I've been quoted £750 for all the control arms (8), tie rod inner links, tie rod ends, and all 4 rollbar links, all original TRW. Was it worth it?

Can anyone please point me at a set of instructions ideally with pictures for the procedure to replace the clutch. Sorry if this is daft question but I cant find them anywhere! Thank you Paul
