  1. I'm about to replace the driver's side radiator on the 2007 Turbo. The o-rings on the coolant hoses look ok but I'd like to replace them any how. Of course, Porsche only sells the whole hose with the o-rings. They don't have just the o-rings alone. Does anyone know what these o-rings are made of? Perhaps McMaster would have a comparable replacement but I'd like to order it with the right material.
  2. I have the same problem as the OP. Would someone be kind enough to point out where the starter is located on the 997.1 Turbo engine block?
  3. In your experience, how often is hydro locking happening because of a failed AOS?
  4. My 997.2 TT makes a "hooting" kind of harmonic from the engine area. It is most obvious at idle and when lifting off the brake (coasting from idle). I had the AOS replaced a year ago and thst solved the issue but it's making this sound again. Is it common for the AOS to go bad so quickly? Is this sound a symptom of an AOS that is in any way damaging the cats?
  5. I was finishing up the interim service on my CD and noted that one of the service items on the maintenance schedule is to read out the soot mass particulate filter. I have a Durametric tool but don't see this variable. And if I can find it, I'd need to know what is acceptable. Called the dealer and they never even heard of doing this during a service visit. Typical dealer... they got a bit nasty and very short with me on the phone when I asked and mentioned I was doing my own work. Getting so sick of Porsche in general... love the car, hate the company, loathe the dealers.
  6. As part of routine maintenance, I ran a Durametric short test on my .1TT and found a couple of errors. I reset the error codes and took it for a good drive. When I came back, I still had this code.... C144 Communication CDR (display). I've searched online and have no idea what is causing this. Any suggestions?
  7. Not matter what I try, I cant get the new dust shields onto my calipers. It is absolutely driving me nuts. What's the secret to getting these things on?
  8. Hey Loren, Thanks for the help but this link only discusses one of the two fluids in the front diff. There are two fill holes and two drain holes in the front differential assembly. The front is for the diff and the rear is for the clutch packs. The link is specific to the front half of the diff. But what about the second half? The replacement fill plugs and drain plugs are sold in two's... Oil Filler Screw - 900 124 013 01 (sold as a set of two) Oil Drain Plug - 900 124 014 01 (sold as a set of two) The PET diagram shows two drains and one fill hole though. So its more confusing now. Any thoughts on the second half of the front diff?
  9. Coming back for more information. It's been a while. Anyhow, there are two fill holes and two drain holes. The front is for the clutches in the diff and the rear is for the clutches. How often should the clutch pack fluid be replaced and what is the replacement fluid?

  13. I'm more familiar with these seats and the adaptive sport seats than any man should be. I can tell you that there is no easy way to raise either type of seat. However, you might gain a 1/2" in height on your seats simply by pulling up the bottom cushion and putting some extra padding under it. You'll need some velcro to do this right/safely. I would recommend replacing your seats with the adaptive sport seats if you really need the height. Even at the lowest setting, the AS seats are higher than the GT3 style seats you have.

  15. During my last track event, I thought my car was lacking a bit of power. Maybe, maybe not. But when I checked with my Durametric cable, I got this error. Bosch Digital Motor Electronics Motronic 7.8.1 Turbo Current Fault Codes P2004: Catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1 Value below lower limit value It appears it could be something with the pre or post cat O2 sensor. Any one seen this issue and fixed it? And which side is bank 1?
  16. It was for a cooling vent that went into the sat/nav box in the bonnet.
  17. When I lift either the interior or exterior door handle, the window goes down about 1/4" as normal. The problem is that when I release the handle, the windows goes back up (even though the door is not closed) so that the door will not close correctly. I suspect there is a switch that registers whether the door is open or closed and it has gone bad. Any thoughts on this?
  18. I just took delivery of a CPO'd 2011 Turbo S from Barrier Porsche in Bellevue Washington. I noticed that the steering wheel is not centered. On a flat road, if I let go of the steering wheel, it drives straight but the steering wheel is at the 12:30 position (off by a few degrees). I'm somewhat mechanically inclined. Any chance a normal schmoe can align the steering wheel himself? If so, is there a DIY anywhere?
  19. Thanks but I have that one for my 997.1 Turbo and it's not even close to fitting. I suspect I will just have to use a 36mm socket but would prefer something that fits the whole cap head and not just the hex on top. For the 997.2 TT, the cap is much larger.
  20. Anyone know what size socket is needed to remove the oil filter cap on a 2011 Turbo S?
  21. It's time to replace the plugs in my 7.1 TT. Since this is a non-modified car, I'm going to stick with the factory spark plugs. Anyone know exactly what they are?
  22. I'm planning for an unusually large number of track days in 2014 and some will be a considerable hike from home. Are there any spare parts (other than brake pads, rotors, and other consumables) that are commonly replaced on a tracked 997 Turbo that I might consider having on hand. I'd rather not spend money unecessarily but it seems like it would be a good idea to have a set of O2 sensors and MAF sensor available if I've hauled the car 12 hours to the track. What do think about the MAF and O2 sensors? Waste of money? Any other parts that I might want on hand?
