  1. Manual transmission. Not sure if the tiptronic has cables as well. But I wanted to make sure there was no confusion.
  2. Request a good part number for the two shifter cables that go from the shifter itself, back to the transmission. I believe they are black and green colored. It is a 2002 Boxster S.
  3. I'll tell you what I did. When I took the electrical part off I put the key in and turned it back and forth in the assembly to make sure it was smooth. If it is with the electrical portion removed and it locks/unlocks the steering wheel fine I would say it is another electrical switch. There is a reason they are $10 bucks. Heavily used too of course. Everything is in that switch, the "return from start spring" included.
  4. I would replace the switch first since it is pretty simple and you already have it on hand. If that doesn't fix it I know there is what they call an "Immobilizer Induction Coil" built into the lock cylinder where you insert the key. If the connector is loose or a wire chaffing or loose, or being just plain broke, that may also cause a problem like this, Since it is specifically designed to not allow the starter to work unless the correct key is installed. But I would bet my money on the clutch switch since it is just a little cheap switch. Just a thought on some other possibilities.
  5. I recently replaced the passenger window regulator on my 02 Boxster S. It "works" now as in goes up and down but at a very slow speed and kind of hangs up in the middle area. Was wondering if anyone else had this issue after replacing a regulator? Could it be that the old regulator being worn has damaged the motor? Or is it just I did a crummy adjustment job? Any info would be appreciated.
