  1. Have not been on this forum for a while since my 09 CTTS was super reliable. It has 250k km now and still drives like a dream. Loving it. I had the truck rear-ended by a Honda on the highway, the muffler and lower bumper were replaced. After taking it back from the Porsche body shop the truck was shaking badly at idle and the 1373, 0421,0431, 1352, 1377, 1378 codes showed up. Body shop claimed that it was not their responsibility. The truck had very rough idle and very noticeable ticking noise. I flushed the engine oil and nothing happened. After doing some research online, I replaced part #17 (Hydraulic Valve - Genuine Porsche G94810530803) on the driver side at my buddy's shop. It was held by 2 screws and was done from underneath the truck. Nothing else was removed other than the plastic panel under the car. Cleared the code and they never came back. Apparently, this valve is part of the VarioCam Plus that changes the opening heights of the lifters. Local Porsche dealer told me that these valves fail all the time. As a result, they have these parts in stock. Hope this would help fellow Cayenne owners.
  2. I too had the P0455 EVAP large leak code in the summer on my 09 CTTS. I changed the gas tank cap first. It did not help. I did some more researching and ended up replacing the vacuum pump at the rear of the passenger side bank (driven by the camshaft I believe). It was leaking oil pretty bad back there. The code has not been back so far. It involves removing the intake manifold and the pump is held by 3 screws, very tight but doable. Hope that helps.
  3. I have seen caliper rebuild kit on one of the major parts online stores. with piston and boots available I did it before on my 09 CTTS when replacing the pads. one of the pistons seized.
  4. thanks but access to the alternator is hard. I suppose the "jump start" contacts under the hood would give some general idea as well?
  5. had the battery replaced less than 1 year. the 09 CTTS does not start sometimes at first crank, or longer crank. had the battery checked with a shop diagnostics tool. it shows "excess ripple" in the charging current. does it mean the diodes in the alternator is gone? is there any way to be sure before I pull the trigger? it is a big job. thanks and happy new year.
  6. I personally think PDCC is the most important option to have for a 957
  7. thanks Loren, you are the man! so it seems most likely it is related to the wiring?
  8. the front end and the color of the calipers are not CTT nor CTTS for sure. walk away
  9. the radiator fan in my 09 CTTS has been running none stop at high speed lately in -30C freezing weather. I plugged in the Durametric and it shows the following code: 0480 Fan 1 control circuit No signal//communication any suggestions? thanks
  10. I had similar issue before with bank 1 P0016 and replaced the chain and lots of other stuff. search on 6speed. I had some write up there under zzzx. hope that helps. good luck
  11. btw, anyone tried walnut shell blasting for valve cleaning(mostly for DFI engines)? I read a lot of DIY for BMW owners and it seems pretty straightforward.
  12. In October, I sold my 04 CTT with around 240k kms. and upgraded to an 09 CTTS (first owner traded in to the dealer, with all service records) 110k kms($40k before tax. dealer gave me new set of 21" Conti summer tires, and new rear rotors/pads). Road trip to Quebec, NB, NS, PEI and Newfoundland from Toronto. very happy with the vehicle. some thoughts after putting about 15k kms in 3 months: the power increase from 4.5TT to 4.8TT DFI is not huge(450hp to 550 hp), unless you really push it. sometimes it even feels slower(maybe I am crazy, lol). the car consumes less gas, from around 19l/100km of the 04 CTT to around 17l/100km. not huge but noticeable the "sport" button is magic, totally change the throttle response, and suspension. PDCC is a must have. I had some great memory at the Gros Morne national park windy roads. the car corners unbelievably flat at high speed. Although feels a little dull sometimes. my 09 CTTS has the thermo insulated (2 layer) glass all around. car cools down faster under the sun. it could be because of the newer A/C system. the gap between wheel and the wheel arch is smaller at "normal" setting than the old 04 CTT. I assume the car is lower at same suspension setting. PCM 3.0 is so much better with Bluetooth and touch screen. audio performance is the same. only 1 oil drain plug and the oil filter is a biitch to get to. need to remove the PDCC hose clamps. A/C filter, intake filter, transmission, transfer case, front, rear diff oil change are exactly the same. same procedure, same parts. fuel filter change is almost the same. only difference is the Styrofoam under the seat. spark plugs are much easier to replace without the secondary injection pump and the torque arm mount in the way. bad news, there is still one plastic coolant pipe at the V-valley. Porsche has metal replacement part already. my 09 does not have the keyless entry option which could be a good thing in the long run consider the complexity of the entry system I will post other observations if there is any. hope that helps anyone thinking about moving from 955 to 957. Cheers
  13. have you replaced the air pressure retaining valves on 4 corners? about 80 bucks each. need special tools to take them out. front 2 are easy. back are hard but doable. when they have problem car won't lower or raise. I talked to the local dealer parts guys and they replace those frequently.
  14. I have the standard red calipers on my ctts. I think the front rotors are 380mm and rear are 350mm. I tried these 19"s before I bought them this afternoon and they fit. surprisingly my old 20" Turbo Design ones won't. spokes on the 19"s curved out a bit and cleared the front caliper by about 1/4" @liam_b: factory recommended 255/50/R19 snow tires. and 275/45/R19 all seasons. I just ordered Michelin X-ice 2 this afternoon. weather forecast: snow tomorrow night. thanks folks
  15. I am trying to get ready for the winter and unfortunately just found out that my old 20" turbo wheels won't fit the 09 CTTS caliper. so would the 19" Cayenne Design wheel clear the caliper on the front? thanks folks
  16. thanks a lot hahnmgh63! did not know this resource before. awesome
  17. I changed my fuel filter on the old 04 CTT before. now I have a question: the newer 09 CTTS that I am having now has a hard Styrofoam cushion thing on top of the carpet. I do not see any attachment mechanism that holds the styrofoam piece but it is solid-bonded to the carpet. is there any special instruction for this part? and I assume the rest of the work would be the same as 955 CTT. thanks
  18. funny I actually found 2 different Mobil 1 3309 at local auto parts stores: 1, the old Mobil super 3309 which specifies that the oil could be used for cayenne and whole bunch of cars http://www.mobil.ca/Canada-English-LCW/automatic-transmission-fluid_mobil-super-atf-3309.aspx# 2, the newer Mobil 3309 which only says it meets the toyota T-IV http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lubes/PDS/GLXXENPVLMOMobil_ATF_3309.aspx I personally used the "Super 3309" before. seems alright. Typical Properties of these two has slight differences
  19. thanks Iiam_b I just searched on autoatlanta.com and it shows the same p/n as you provided and the description is transmission oil. the website also suggests a Fuchs Titan ATF 5005 as replacement. and that is an ATF for automatic transmissions. I also checked the p/n for 04 CTT which I had changed fluid twice before, they are the same parts on the catalog. I used 71141 ATF before. could someone clarify this? thanks
  20. thinking about getting an 09 CTTS with 110k kms. if I do I would like to change all fluids possible any changes to ATF, transfer case, front and rear diff? I had changed these fluids on my old 04CTT with great results. thanks
  21. I am having the exact problem. also the clock always runs slow. sometimes 30 mins overnight. I replaced 2 MOSFETs on the kessy board and 6 resistors(you could find a DIY instruction). it seems to be working in the first couple of days and the remote function works in a bigger range and all 4 doors could be unlocked. but the draining battery issue still happens from time to time. the clock seems okay after fix even when battery drained and I have to open the door turning the key. one thing I notice is that the driver door entry mechanism is little delayed compare to other doors by hearing the unlocking clicks. I did not have to reprogram the kessy unit and it is really easy access. the 2 MOSFETs were hard to remove. I think it is worth trying by replacing the 2 MOSFETs and 6 resistors. really easy job compare with some others. hope that helps.
