  1. Hi there, just got my new 996 C2 Cab. First time Porsche owner, need some help. When I got the car, the 12V socket in the dash did not work. It is the old style with the over-sized socket. I intend to buy a newer tighter one, but need to figure out the root of the problem first. I checked the fuse and it was blown. I replaced it with another and it blew that too. This told me I have a short somewhere in the circuit. Someone suggested to unplug the lighter and check fuse again. The fuse was fine this time! However, does this actually isolate the problem to the lighter? If I unplug the lighter, doesn't the circuit break? Of course the fuse won't blow if it's an incomplete circuit. What should be my next step to troubleshoot? I don't want to plug in a new lighter and have it get burned out.
