  1. I mean if the cylinders were not fitted properly or bled properly, could this cause other issues?
  2. No, but there was no problem with the gearbox/clutch before the master and slave cylinder were changed. Could changing the cylinders cause issue?
  3. Hi al! I wonder of anyone can assist. My car 1999 2.5 boxster. Leaking from clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder, but now replaced BUT won't go into gear? Had a leak near my foot for a few days then brake fluid light came on THEN the clutch pedal hit the floor. System has been bled and slave and master replaced, but blew one of them off and was leaking again. Any ideas? Do I need a new clutxh? Gearbox was fine before this happened. 88K miles on car and had never had to change the clutch ( I am the 2nd owner and had car from 50K. Garage has it, suspects clutch, but they are not Porsche ( before they send it to specialist, what do you think? Thanks!
  4. if you do the Tupperware mod (or the Ziplock bag) make sure that you glue rubber washers on the inside and outside surfaces where the screws will go. otherwise water will still make it through the screw holes. the best thing would be to find a solid rubber washer (no hole in it) and screw the screw through it to make a hole. that way the hole is only big enough for the screw. Chris, I'll go with tupperware, I think... and I'll probably use some silicon to seal the screws when I install. For now, cleaning the drain seems to have helped... it rained like crap the night after I did it, and the carpet back there was only a bit damp. I'll likely remove the driver's seat and do the mod all in one day. If anyone knows the dimensions of the control unit, that would be helpful, so I can find a tupperware container that will work. :) Did the car rectify itself? I have exactly the same problem, I hope drying out will sort everything out.. My car starts ( sometimes) central locking playing up, alarm crazy and unpredictable, no stopping it! Has you car sorted itself out?
  5. Mobil1 0W40 is now in all Porsches from the factory and recommended by Porsche as the oil to use. It has great flexibility for hot and cold climates and has been working wonderfully in our '87 & '00 P-cars. Thanks for that! Sounds like good news! :drive:
  6. I had to put Mobil 1 0. 40kw in the car does it matter?. Boxster 99 2.5.
  7. No reply from **** Turpin ( Independednt Porsche Specialist).. So - just took the car to a local garage who has the machine to check for fault codes.. Told him the story - took car for service - **** Turpin said he disconnected a hose but won't say what hose etc jus that he will sort it out for free???. 68 error codes? -m coud this be caused by the breather hose?. Car drinking oil like water and saw some on the floor.. What could it be?. Dont think it is RMS - must be linked to the hose?. **** Turpin said that the hose was pumping oil UP instead of down?? Any ideas...
  8. I am not convinced you need a new engine. I had a hose plugged on my car and it ticks ticks ticks also - usually does this after I have not ndriven it for a while - I think your car is fine -just needs to be driven... Any more news????
  9. Yes. Another member asked me to name and shame - but tI assured him that no way would he ever ise this guy.. Plus - he is a friend of a lifelong friend and he asked me not to ruin his reputation :censored: and that he has NEVER had a Porsche if this stature.. Mainly old 911s and the likes - just an under ther arches job and if I thought anyone would go there I would say! My hands are tied...! :censored:
  10. I will speak to him and then get a solicitor to write to him - in the uk it is only £25.00 - asking for compensation to cover the costs of any remedial work. The thing is - I am very polite and understanding of the excessive time he took to sort the car out. He actually took the car out one night and I saw him drive past me. :censored: I rang his mobile an asked him - where is the car?. He said 'in the garage' - I said but I just saw the car - he then said yes - I just waved to you as I drove past!. :cursing: I went to the garage to see hiim 2 hours later - I was fuming - he was not there - he took the car out for his own use and I found a receipt for something he bought at 11pm at night in the car!! HE IS IN ABOVE HIS HEAD RE: THE CAR - I DOUBT HE HAS EVEN WORKED ON A BOXSTER BEFORE. :censored:
  11. The werd thing is. He is very defensive. I mentioned that the car has not been running right since the service and we end up in an argument????. Pathetic. I have left a mesage on his phone asking him to tell me exactly which hose he disconnect as I want to order the part.. 2 days have passed and no word from him!.. I will take the Car to a good independent others have mentioned on the forum.. They have the right machine to diagnose the problems. This guy is a joker. He is trying to use my car to bank roll his little business. When I asked him what is wrong with the car - he said ' It is hard to explain on the phone and that the work needs to be done in stages! In other words - he wants to get paid money for doing work to the car and not say what the fcuk he is doing! If any negative thing have been caused by him disconnecting the hise etc.. I will speak to him and then get a solicitor to write to him - in the uk it is only £25.00 - asking for compensation to cover the costs of any remedial work. :censored:
  12. Thanks for the reply.. He 'apparently' worked for Porsche once! He did use Mobil1 fully synthetic.. What worried me is the fact he is so shifty about what he has done and won't give a straight answer!!. I have asked him about the hose and he says he has to check his paperwork and will get back to me??? Yes.. Incompetent! To top it all off.. The independent said he will sort the hose thing out for free... He them offeres to fit some brakes for me for.... £350.00!!!!.. Just fitting!! I say NO! - he then says the hose is not free as it is a lot of work.. Fcuking crook! I doubt it is an oil seperator of he would not offer to do it for free. I bought a hose 'breather hiose connector' for £10.00 - maybe that is the part he was taking about.. He is so vague.. :censored:
  13. Can anyone help. 1) Car was running fine - FPSH.... 2) Independent does service - but jacks up the back of the car for 3 days and oil stays in the crank case. 3) Due to point 2 he overfills car with oil....!!!! Smokes for hours and takes him days to sort out. 4) He disconnects a hose ( oil breather??) and plugs it - car runnng on much less power. 5) Revs up and down all the time and very lumpy. The car has not been the same since and this independent seems a bit reluctant to tell me exactly whathe has done!!! Will points 2,3,4, cause the car long term damage??.. Help guys!
  14. No - Not OPC.. He is an Independemt... That shout be Independent crook!. I asked for A major service - he did a minor service and as yet - 5minths down the line - has not furninshedme with the official invoice.. Now - I could have got a Minor service from Porsche for £450.00 and a Major for £534.00!! I should have gone to OPC and just got the extras done independently.. :censored:
  15. Easy - best bet - get the AA to fit it! They did mine - was wobbly for a while and then cracked - The AA came out and fitted it - but they used the cable in the car! Simple for them to do! Cost you about £70.00 otherwise. Pedal cost me £159.00 though!
  16. Thanks for the information - I am getting it all sorted now after reading posts like this - I am getting a full major service and brake pads all fitted for £750.00 - I am in England!!!! Thanks for you help - I was initially quoted £1700.00 just for labour - and I mean £s not $!!!!!
  17. Getting the following: New Drilled Discs all round New Brakepads all round and new flkuiod hydraulic etc.. Major Service - filters - aire filter and the works for a major 80,000.00 Service. What cost would you say it reasonable from OPC What cost from an independent?. I have heard the brakes and discs to supply and fit etc is about £1,000.00 plus!! I have a Boxster - I have been given a quote and think it is a good deal - interested to know what you guys think I should be paying!.. Cheers!
  18. For white smoke, I had my air filter change and Oil seperator replace. That's what 2 seperate dealer suggested and I took it to my Porsche repair shop replace oil seperator. I did change air filter my self and everything works fine now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the advice - it is due a service next month - will get it looked at!. Bentley are looking into the light situation when I get the time to bring it to them! :notworthy:
  19. Took my car to Bentley/Rolls Royce to get a new bumper fitted under insurance. Now - the driving lights - the rear lights and 1 interior light do not work and i have to drive with full fogs just to get 1 back light to work!. 1 What could have caused this - and any solutions?. 2 Quite a lot of smoke on start up?. Any ideas?. :notworthy:
