  4. Well you'll need the wiring. BUt no matter how far you get, you'll be stuck w/ a system that is no longer supported w/ updates. All in all, you're better off buying aan avn 5435, or some other 2 din unit.

  8. Just sold an 01 nav system complete w/ cd changer, etc. they have no more updates for these models, so you're probaly better off w/ an aftermarket. the 02 and later have fiber optic connections which cannot be retrofitted w/o considerable headaches.
  9. I don't know if I can reply to my own topic, but I found a hinge repair kit for 996 whioch will fix this problem. The reapir kit part number is 996 552 960 01 if you need it.
  10. I just replaced my black console in my 996 for a carbon fiber one from a 2005 Turbo. The old glove box door is supposed to go through a couple of eyelets on the console which holds the back of the door at the hinge point. The new console does not have these eyelets so the pivot point is not properly attached. Does anyone know if there was a change in the glove box hionge design for 2005? If so,m is there a new glove box door especialy for 2005? Thanks for the info. Eli
  11. How do you remove the gauges from a 2001 996. Thanks for ny info. Eli
  12. Does anyone know where I can get console removal instructions for a 2001 996. Have a tiptronic, so the handle must be removed first. Thanks.
  13. Ok I bought a 2001 996 carrera4 cab. Ebay item #4574712440. I also bought a nav system from a 2000 996 ebay item #8001975202. Need to know if this can be installed w/o modifications. I do have the BOSE system. Is this going to be a hassle? Anyone in san diego that can do this? Really need to know before I start. Eli
