  1. Question folks, Looking at a 997.2 GT3 Very clean car, 1 owner, now at dealer. FS with a CPO. Odomter reads roughly 8300 miles. A carfax through a flag of inconsistant odo reading. There was some service on the CARFAX report in 2009 and indicates a mileage reading of roughly 9200. How common is a clerical error? How common or possible is it to role back an odometer? Thanks! Tim Scanlan Asheville, NC
  2. Does anyone know the difference between the M96 Motor in a 2001 996 (C2 carrera) and a 2008 Carrera S? Thanks!
  3. Greetings, I recently posted a topic about my rear spoiler not working. I have reposted this topic as it is unresolved. I have attached a pic of the malfunctioning spoiler piston, view is from the bottom looking up at what should be a blind-end. Some type of spring loaded wire is hanging out. I have also attached a pic of the normal, functioning side. Any thoughts...? Thanks
  4. Greetings everyone. Just got back from my first DE event. I'm hooked!!! Okay, so I was told by a fellow DE participant that my spoiler was deploying on only one side. When I investigated the matter in the paddock the manual deployment button revealed the same thing, drivers side was the only side deploying. When I looked closer it became apparent that the butt-end, closest to the motor was cracked. This is only something that could be felt by fingers as the end point down towards the motor. Has anyone had a similar situation? Is it simple to replace that piston? Thanks, Tim
  5. Thanks! FYI, Just ordered rear hood gas struts x2. I don't know why they were only on one side. $37 a piece. Suncoast parts. Great site BTW. Very well organized. http://www.suncoastparts.com/
  6. Good morning folks, I was working yesterday installing a CAI and free-flow exhaust on my 01 996 c2 and out of nowhere the deck lid slammed shut with hand severing speed. I thought it might have been a gust of wind so I opened it back up and the same thing occurred. Q: Are two dampers supposed to be present? I noticed fittings are on both right and left; however, I only have a damper on right side. Thanks! PS: leaves are at peak color in Asheville NC!!
  7. Greetings. Okay, maybe its me, but the rear spoiler is not fully retracting, It goes up just fine, but when it closes it leave a gap to where the brake light is visable. It seems that the motor/hydraulic is not allowing it to fully close. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tim
  8. Thank-you. I will check the fans. Adding coolant did the trick... She's cool as a cucumber.
  9. Hello, She's running a bit hot, I think? Coolant was at MIN level w/ cold motor. I have added dist. H2O to bring it to 1/2 way between MAX and MIN. Any maintenance suggestions with respect to the coolant system? PIC attached is 15 min of moderate driving, 40-60 MPH
  10. Nor Cal Thank-you. Okay, blue stuff that is greasy on garage floor under the car was actually water condensation from the radiator, I think. A/C maybe? In any event, I pour a small amount of water on the garage floor which was painted a month ago. Apparently, there was a sealant placed over the paint that is turning the water blue making it look like washer fluid, but have the consistancy of something greasy. So, that leaves me with the heat issue. I'll post a pic of the temp.
  11. I have a 2001 996 and she's been running a little hot. 190-192deg Recently I have found two blue puddles under the vehicle, one about 10" medial to the drivers front tire and the other about 2' distal to the passenger front tire?? Reservoir contains the normal OEM coolant (greenish in color) So I thought about windshield fluid, but the puddles are greasy in nature. ??? Help Oh the reservoir it at minimum level with a cold engine. Thanks!
