  1. Drive and enjoy the car in its true element by avoiding much of the blue highways. My father in law and I did a fly and drive a few years ago. Met in Alabama to pick up his new to him 1991 bmw convertible. And drove it back to st louis. Only rule was using byroads. Best memory with him. Either have a good friend come along or visit others. We would be happy to host you in Denver.
  2. I am converting my car back to stock and need to replace the air intake. There is a tube that connects to the air filter assembly. this tube basically runs up to the rear lid to draw in ambient air. Is there a difference a 1999 996 part and my car is a 2003 c4s. thank you
  3. I recently (July 2012) acquired a 03 c4s with 55k. The PO put HR sports over OEM struts at 34k. the ride is fine but too low for my DD. My Row030 suspension just arrived. What other parts and hardware should I have handy? There is a good clunk in the rear when going over pot holes etc. Small clunk in the front ONLY when backing out of my driveway with the wheels turned. I think tie rod ends at a minimum, correct? How about strut bearings and mounts? Any input is appreciated. Also I have done similar work on my previous M3 so not a total newbie. how long should I allocate for this job?

  5. thank you. I have not been able to find crush washers for transaxle and front diff. I checked pelican, autohaus and bimmerparts. Do you have a source for those? Vendors mentioned above have oil drain plug and coolant drain washers. I ordered those two. Also thank you on the loosen fill tip. I learned that the hard way on my first performance car. Thanks for the reminder
  6. I read the DIY section. Thank you for all the information. Where can I source the shell 75w90? Is there a specific one I need to seek that is compatible with our cars? I will do all fluids including ps, brake, coolant, transaxle and front diff. Plugs and serp belt. Do I need crush washers for transaxle and front diff?
  7. I am trying to sort out the modifications to my recently purchased c4s. The front driver strut has this part number: 996-343-043-27. There are some sort of lowering springs on the car as well. It is too low for practical daily driver in Denver. C4S is supposed to have turbo suspension so I would think thew above part number is turbo strut. Please help me confirm. thank you

  9. thank you for the welcome and quick answer, much appreciated. My 986 has the sport touring package and memory seats, three settings by the door sill. When I bought the car it only came with Sparcos so I do not know excatly what was in there before but the option codes in the frunk indicate sport touring package ands there are memory controls, so I think these are the correct seats for it. Question is whether the seats that I bought from a C4S owner are missing connectors. There is the memory module underneath the seat, mounted at the front. All the driver motors are wired into this box. There are no connectors coming out of the box or anywhere else under the seat? There are three opennings on the black box, are my chassis connectors suppoed to go into the back box? Or are there suppoed to be a ribbon of connectors under the seat to mate with the chassis connectors? I do not see anything hacked off by the PO. Also not pictured from the chassis are a 26 pin white connector and 2 pin spade and three pin connector. Again these are coming from the chassis.
  10. hi folks, this is my first here. I will do a proper introduction very soon. is this seat missing connections? I just bought a set of 996 c4s seats to use in my 986.passenger side is working just fine. The driver side does not seem to have a connector, only a black box. am I missing something?
