  1. Fixing dashboard rattle - near side air vent Had a rattle coming from the passenger side vera the air vent 'behind' the dash somewhere - which sounded like plastic to plastic - driving me mad. Cured it as follows: 1. Remove the dash end plate. Use a credit card to carefully prise the 'rear' end out from the dash, revealing two plastic spigots that locate it Pull the door seal away from the flange adjacent to the end plate (just makes the job easier) Pull the end plate towards you (i.e. to the rear of the car) and you will disloca Author RJKflyer Category Carrera (997-2) - Common Fixes and Repairs Submitted 04/19/2014 09:55 AM Updated 11/25/2015 08:17 AM

Check the vent ducting There is a plastic elbow that joins the behind-dash a/c ducting to the air vent. On mine this was clearly loose and and worked 'away' from the dash duct. This is what was rattling Push the 'elbow' towards the centre of the car - this should re-locate it back onto the end of the behind-dash duct Get a piece of firmish foam and jam it between the elbow and the end of the dash where the end plate will go back on. This will stop it simply disconnecting again And (added Nov 2015) add a small piece of foam ABOVE and SLIGHTLY to the back of the elbow as the elbow can also 'knock' against something behind it. (Then if it does work at all loose you will not have this secondary problem). 3. Replace end plate Locate two front end tabs into their slots, and push in Align the two rear tabs with their slots and push towards dash (i.e. towards centre of car). Will click into place Push door rubber back onto flange. See if you have cured the problem...!
  3. Am getting near to changing my Bridgestone RE050As. Since we're not getting the Michelin Pilot Super Sport N-rated, I'm stuck with extended warranty acceptable N-rated tyres. The PZ Corsa system gets good 'A' ratings for wet grip, and so I was looking for experience to confirm this. I'm not worried about the higher wear, nor colder weather grip as have a set of Sottozeros for winter. And, if not the PZCS, then what next?
