The Black Edition is a bargain - you're getting $10K in options free. I just bought a 2011 C4S, which at 385 HP is overpowered for most situations off track. A regular C4 is hard to find these days. Also the Black will be a limited edition with it's own number - they are only making 1911 of them so there will be a collector aspect which is cool. Also the 997 has been redesigned for 2012 with a new 901 body to be revealed next month. I've seen the spy shots and personally, I wanted the 997 - less bulky and basically perfected after these years of rigorous German refinement. The Black Edition Coupe is the way to go - much more room than the Cab and looks better and is safer. And you can appear to be frugal for your Dad. Just my opinion of course. Thank you for the reply. The Carrera S that I was looking at looked absolutely identical to the Black Edition. Absolutely no difference (to the naked eye). Based on your response, I may opt for the Black Edition. I am fortunate to be in a position to where I have convinced my boss (who happens to be my father.....horray for nepotism) to give me a company car. He is aware that I am really wanting a 2012 Carrera 2 S (PDK, sports exhaust, chrono package, etc). It lands somewhere near $110,0000. However, at the same dealership, there is a 911 Carrera Black Edition with PDK for $92,000. My question is, will I be absolutely kicking myself if I went with the Black Edition, instead of the Carrera 2 S? I was feeling a little guilty about the $110,000, but I also want to make sure that I get a very solid 911 (performance wise). I'm aware of the engine displacement different (3.6 vs. 3.8). Is there a huge performance difference between the two cars? Thank you very much! Jeff Dallas, Tex
