  1. I'm in the middle of the same problem.....Interested to know what others have done.
  2. Yeah...definitely not for track use. But for what I paid for them, they're not bad for everyday driving. You DO get what you pay for! <_<
  3. I put on my new summer wheels and tires over the weekend, and I must say they look and feel pretty nice. BSA machined wheels from Roock autosport (very nice people to deal with by the way.) I've seen theese wheels sell on ebay at incredibly low prices. From what I've heard and experienced so far, they're excellent quality for the money! Falken Azenis 615 225-front 275-rear Love the deep dish So far the wheels and tires feel very nice. The wheels are a perfect fit on the hub, so no need for hubcentric rings. The tires are very responsive and very smooth with hardly any road noise. I'll post an update after a couple hundred miles. :D
  4. I had the tires mounted yesterday, and the guys put scratches all over the lip of one of my front wheels. :cursing: So, now I have to get a new one before warm weather arrives.
  5. Got these today. I've heard good things about them, and they look really nice. Just wondering if anyone has used these. I'll post an update as soon as they go on the car this summer.
  6. I installed the EVO cold air intake on my 2001 Boxster S today. I have to say, I'm quite impressed. I've never been one to get caught up in the manufacturer's hype of added horsepower, so I wasn't expecting much other than a different sound (which is monstrous by the way). As far as the horsepower gains go, evolution motorsports claims it adds up to 9hp....frankly I don't feel it. It's probably more like 3 or 4, and that's hardly noticable. It does, however, increase the throttle response immensly. From about 3000 to 5000 rpm (especially in low gears) it feels like a different car! Much quicker off the line and a bit more passing power. If anyone's thinking of getting this system, I'd highly reccomend it. If nothing else, It's worth it just for the music that comes from the engine! PS I was wondering if anyone with this intake has had any trouble with the MAF...............
  7. Porsche dealer charging $800 to install the top....Too bad it's so expensive. I've seen quotes anywhere from $400-$600, but I prefer letting my dealer do it as I know the work will be quality and warranteed.
  8. Just got mine in the mail today...I orderd from this seller on ebay. He took about a week before it shipped, but it arrived in perfect condition. It is the GAHH top, and it looks like top quality. I'm getting it installed at the dealer next week.
  9. Looking for weights on the Gemballa competition 18x8 and 18x10....Cant find it anywhere. Please help! Misspelled GEMBALLA in the title..... (fixed - Loren)
  10. They are a manufacturer for the new soft top that has a heated glass window for pre 2003 boxsters. Just bought mine on ebay for under $700 US!
  11. Thanks I wasn't sure if I needed to buy any wires or harnesses....I did some reading and I think the part 3 of what I'm looking for is 986 612 083 00. Can anyone verify? -BT
  12. Is the socket for the demister behind the driver seat? I've never used a hardtop, and I just purchased the new soft top with the heated rear glass. Basically, I just want to know if I have to buy any extra wiring. Hopefully, the wires are already run since I do have the heated morrors. Thanks
  13. So where exactly is the harness for the rear defroster? Thanks for the info
  14. I just ordered my GAHH top with the glass rear window for my 01' Boxster S. I was wondering if all boxsters have the harness for the rear defroster, or is there a kit that I need to buy to make the new glass defroster work? Thanks
  15. Here is the thread of the guy who had it installed for $350 USD. Looks great! New top installed
  16. Make sure not to use ammoniated cleaners. Ammonia will cause premature aging of leather. Cheers!
  17. I'm buying the GAHH w/ German canvas. I've seen new ones on ebay for about $725. They're also on cabrioworld.com for $795 I think. I had thought about DIY, but I'm not sure I trust myself to do it perfect. I found another guy on this site who had is intalled for $350 US. So, that was what I was assuming the going rate was.
  18. I'm buying the new top with the glass window for my 01' Boxster S, and I was wondering what the going rate for a professional installation was. I went to a local shop that specializes in convertibles, and they quoted me $600 to install. This seems a bit high. Could anyone tell me what they've paid to have this top installed? thanks in advance -Chris
  19. What size tires are you running with the 10" in in the rear??? I've been thinking of fitting 285's on the back of my boxster, and noonne has been able to give me any input on fitment issues...Does anyone know if I'll need spacers with a 52 offset wheel? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Chris
  20. Good call....I've seen packages that change your A/C and instrument cluster to blue or white, but I've never heard of anyone replacing their orientation lights. Does anyone know??? FYI--Here's the link to the LED conversion...It looks pretty cool! Porsche Interior LEDs -Chris
  21. I agree...I've had my K&N for about a year now, and I haven't really noticed any performance differences. It did idle funny for about 3 minutes right after I installed it, but that is normal. I haven't had any problems. The nice thing about this filter is you can just take it out and clean it instead of buying new replacements.
  22. Ok, I've got a 2001 Boxster S with H&R sport springs that loweres the car 1" front and rear. I've been thinking of buying some new wheels/tires for the car. On the Gemballa website, they reccomend 285/30/zr18 tire with a 18x10.5 wheel for the rear. My question is: Will this tire/wheel combo cause any problems with the springs? I don't want to run into any trouble with rubbing or anything like that. Could someone who knows more about wheels/tires help me out? Thanks!
  23. Thanks for the reply...Do you know if this unit bolts on easily, or is there modification involved?
  24. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the caractere body kit...I'm thinking of buying one and was wondering how easy it is to install. I'd like to do the job myself, but I'm not sure how much modification I'd have to do on the front bumper...Ideally it would just bolt on, but I've heard of people having to cut and fit bumpers...I'm not sure I'd feel comfotable with that kind of job. Thanks
