I sure as heck dont mean to rub it in at all but My 99 Boxster blows amazingly cold for how old it is and I have never had to do anything to it....The one thing it is doing now is making a noise from the blower like something is hitting the fan ....I heard the foam seal is probably the problem..It comes free and lays on the fan...Just another future DIY...

The pic is a little blurry but I am sure many members have seen this part in the aftermarket catalogs...Im looking for that dash part for under the gauges..It comes in brushed stainless with several holes for the idiot lights.....Also want the brushed guage rings but I cant find them in only a three guage set..They only sell the five guage set...Any help locating these parts would be greatly appreciated...Respectfully, Jim
  4. Can a backyard mechanic like myself remove and replace the oil /air seperator.?? The dealership wants 100 dollars for the part which I am sure can be purchased cheaper elsewhere... My Boxster has just a little oil smoke when you start it..I have read that is a sign that the seperator is on its way out...when it does go it will billow smoke in a big way...
  5. I am also looking at these cars and I do believe GT3 is the most performance orientated. That car is scarry fast on straights and very sharp with braking. Not a winter car :-) Definitely decide what you need as well as what you think you want. Great info gents..Thanks..My current Boxster isnt a daily driver, Its more of a weekend toy all from spring to fall and I love the top down days any day of the week.....So the upgrade would be about the same..As much as I would like to, I dont race road events..Im more of a drag guy with the old Mopars I own.. So being said the upgrade to a 996 fell within the three cars I posted...I love the GT3 AND the Turbo...I think the GT3 will get the nod and from what I have researched I have been told not to buy ANY 996 or 997 unless the RMS has been repaired...Is there truth in this?? My current Porsche...
  6. I just replaced the plugs myself at 51K miles..Brakes are next as the dash light has just came on...My plugs looked real close to yours and maybe a little more fouling but I put the Platinum 4 plugs in her and throttle response has improved a great deal..

  10. What would cause a noise in the blower motor that almost sounds like the fan is loose or something is contacting the fan blades..Both with the heat or the A/C??? Its making me crazy...The higher the speed the louder it gets..HELP
