  1. Just do add a note, Be carefull just adding a splitter, this is not always the best result and may may make matter worse. Aerodynamics is a tricky subject and you need good knowledge to understand what add-on will and wont work, CFD is a optimum tool, but doubt you have access to this, although if any of you have a CAD model of a porsche I will run a CFD analysis on it. Ok, using a splitter, great development, and it works if set right and working with other aerodymanic devices on the car. The splitter, as mentioned diverts the air flow from under to over it. This creates a low pressure region under that car therefore sucking it to the ground. However, sometimes this can be counter acted by the fact that more air is flowing over the top of the car, therefore (mass continuity equation!!) the air flow will need to increase in air flow speed. The higher the velocity, the lower the pressure, and this resultant force wants to pull the car from the road (counter acting force). If the splitter is design correctly, from aerodynamic analysis, and not some muppet just adding a flat plate to the bottom of a bumper, then they can be tweaked to work "WITH" the car. Such details as diverting the flow to the sides of the car, to the brakes (cooling) and even the angles (resulting in votices being generated, flat plate aerodynamics!!) can alter the other all aerodynamic characteristics of the car. If you want to get serious, then may be look at having a rear diffuser designed for you, that can sweep up from the floor to the top of the rear bumper (fire proof as it will be past the exhaust) this would work very efficently both with or with out the spliter. Also a rear wing will help, depending if it has been design correctly to work with the seperation points of the rear. If you want to hold well over 150MPH than you will need to put money in to it, not just buy add-ons from halfords!! One more thing, be careful driving at them speeds on the road dude, I know it a rush, but it only take one error and you aint getting out alive at that speed. If you want a rush, spend the money on a track day, that way you learn the vehicles characteristics in a safer enviroment. Russ H
  2. Hi Guys, Just done 2 HPI checks and its definately a Boxster S, registared September 1999. Regrading the service, it has infact done 73,000 miles and has just had its 72,000 miles major service, so Im hoping to be clear of service charges for the time being. But can I listen out for any noises that might point to things on the way out. The car has had, 72K Major Service Full Main Dealer History 2 New rear tyres New discs and pads within the last year New clutch. New Trailing arms and bushes Cheers for any help again Many thanks Russ
  3. Hey guys, Fingers crossed im just in the process of buying a 1999 boxtser S and after some advice. First, should I be concered of 70,000 miles? Second, what do you advise to have a good look at and check when picking it up? many thanks for any help guys
  4. opps, my appologise. is it so close to the wall that you could not open the door a tiny bit. I.E, climb very carefully on to the wing (lay a quilt over it) then unlokc the door and open as far as you can, then if you can slide your arm over the top of the do and get the key in to the ignotion switch?? Another idea, can you get hold of two, better still, four trolley jacks (cheap to buy) then get four people, jack up under each lower suspension arm, and very very very slowly and gently drag the car out It might activate the tilt sensor, but might get you out You only need to move it slightly diagonal to get to the drivers door.
  5. While on this subject, may I ask, what is the best thing to give an overall clean of the engine, obviously you cant just get the pressure washer on it. Any other methods??
  6. Correct me if Im wrong, but this happened to me, you, Just unlock the car with the key (the alarm will go off) then start the car (the cars management will then recgonise the radio chip inside the key fob and turn the alarm off. It will then come out of sleep mode
  7. While on this subject, may I ask, what is the best thing to give an overall clean of the engine, obviously you cant just get the pressure washer on it. Any other methods??

  13. Yeah the windows could be added on to, just need to either tap in to the windows switches or the relay. However, is it safe to shut the windows with the soft top only in the stop position and not locked down. Yes, the soft top would to the stop position
  14. Hi All, I am just developing a remote control for the soft top of my boxter. Although this wont completely lock the top to the seals, its useful if it start to gently spit and you are in a shop or something, just help protect the leather for a period. This is an additon to a circuit I have designed to attach to the rear of the cabro switch to enable one push operation. Just wondering if any one can thing of any thing imaginative to add on top of this design?? Cheers Russ
  15. Hey everyone, hope you are all well. I am looking at a 2001 boxster, but its has the dial climate control which Im not too keen on. I was therefore wondering if its a easy replacement to had the digital cliamte control system?? Many thanks in advance Russ
  16. Hi All, I am looking at geting another boxster, and have seen one I like but it does not come with traction control, could anyone tell me if this can simply be added by adding the on dash switch?? Many thanks Russ
