  1. Hi, I have a long story that I will make as short as possible..., I bought a '99 996 C2 in PA two years ago and exported it to Sweden where it went through inspection without any problems. About 2 months later I found oil in the coolant and after a lot of research I decided to replace the engine and found a '01 engine from a Euro spec car which we did all work to such as IMS, RMS etc. The car has been at the mechanic for 16 months (yep, I know that is 16...). I got it back after 9 months only to get a CEL when I drove home. I returned the car to the shop and it has been there for another 7 months now..., the indy does not seem to be able to figure out what the problem is. Now I am tired of this and is looking to solve the problem. The car shows the following codes: P1602 Supply voltage open circuit P1397 Camshaft sensor bank 2 short to ground P0410 Secondary air injection system cylinder (1-3) signal implausible P1411 Secondary air injection system cylinder (4-6) signal implausible I guess the P1602 is just due to the battery being disconnected. The air injection codes are probably down to the fact that the US spec engine has the secondary air injection system which the Euro spec cars do not have. And then there is the P1397 which is my biggest concern. The DME is not changed. I guess you would need to flash the ECU with the correct software for the '01 Euro spec engine? That would probably erase the air injection codes. I read in "The essential companion" that the DME 5.2.2 (should be on the 99 US spec C2) throws a CEL in the US for P1397 and the DME 7.2 (should be right for the '01 Euro spec) does NOT throw a CEL for P1397. Can this be right...? Then I would only need to flash the ECU with the correct software and all codes would be erased...? Can it be that simple? The mechanic transferred both the US wiring harness as well as the US intake manifold on to the euro spec engine since they could not fit the euro wiring harness and had some problems installing it. He also told me something about one of the engines only having one cam position sensor and the other one having two and I thought he joked since there are 2 banks. But just now I read in the "Essential companion" that there indeed are markets that only have a cam position sensor on bank 1 and some other markets have on both banks. If that is the case then I can understand that there will be a problem if the software is looking for something that does not exist. The sensor on bank 2 is brand new, he has just replaced it. He also says that he has checked the sensor as well as the wiring to the sensor from the ECU. But is it just a software problem? Would a flash with the correct software for the '01 Euro engine solve the problem? Anyone who has any ideas...? I really would need some help.
