hi been reading this thred with intrest im in uk second hand engines on ebay uk from £2500 sounds alot better value than in us even with sum shipping costs and as far as repairing alot depends how long its had water in the oil and if its been standing its not having the water in the engine its the rust on the surfaces it cuases assuming it hasent got into the combuston chambers take a look on ebay uk cheers dave

here in uk there r heavy duty flushes [mostly used on truks]but a very good cheat is to run engine with laundry fluid for a few hrs flush and repeat a few times it dosent harm the alloy and dosent foam up but realy flushes oil out .not so long ago bought a lateish vw passat that had had a heat exchanger replaced by dealer that tryed to flush system but still showed oil in water so condemed engine i know how hard thay r to flush so took chance 3 days later all sorted 4 bottels of luandry fluid sold car on with £2800 profit so u might be lucky cheers dave

gutted so i take it the bigger round vents indicate it being later bumper shame would have looked hot my other option is the fiber glass gt6 splitter to fit on bottom cheers for your help

hi not sure of yr its got the 2 big roundish air intakes to either side rather than the slimmer slit r the big roundish intakes yr spercific cheers again for help

hi all i have the chance of a very cheap 996 front bumper and my 2000 boxster has a badly scraped bumper [on lower edge] was wondering if the 996 bumper will just bolt on or at least fit round the lights etc even if the mountings need some fetteling cheers all dave

i agree to a point i ran a largish repair shop for 20 odd yrs so have a bit of an idea. as i pointed out im not talking about the products that are pretty much oil thickners and band-aids as you rightly say.but there r some very good mostly teflon based products out there. some are used by large manufacturers to coat turbo bearings etc on new cars and trucks to protect on start up and i see from the many posts on here re start up noise [from top end ]maybe a little help might be a good preventative tactic. thay work on a molecular level and in simple terms stick to the surface of the metal rather than draining down when engine is standing thus protecting it for the second or so the until the oil is upto pressure and circulating to all parts of the engine as on more conventional type engines the 1st place the oil is fed to is the mains and end shells and was wondering if this was allso the case with a boxer type set up cheers dave

hi all trying again to post this so sorry if it shows up few times just got a 2.5 2000 87k after 25 yrs with mercs ive allways used slik 50 every few oil changes as it helps on cold start ups as well as other things any one have any thoughts about useing in my boxster im not talking thickners im talking about teflon based products cheers all dave

hi there maurice got the end caps from mr brink charged me 30 euro for 2 so saved loads on dealer price of complet rods cars in shop as it also had a snapped flex drive shaft and on reading up sounds like a full on mission syncing the roof moters so left it to fitter recon its one of the jobs gets esayer once you have done a few times anyway thanks for your help and recomendation cheers dave

hi all just got a 2000 boxster 2.5 5 speed cars been standing for 6 mths or so roofs playing up as i have allready posted but also guy i got it of told me that ever since he had rad replaced the red warning light in temp gauge flashes dosent get hot level seems fine did 50 miles this morning drove without fault temp fine and steady but lights still flashing guessing it needs re setting some how is this something i can do or is it plug in job cheers all dave

hi new guy here in uk just bought a 2000 boxster off a friend cars been standing for 6 mths he told me roofs always been ok till he started it up as i was due to test drive and started testing hood as it went down half way he hard a sort of pop/clonk he said he could see a plastick clip on ball and socked arm had poped of he put roof back up up now when u try and put it down it just makes clonking sound but dosent move 1st how do i get roof down or half way down so i can get to problym and. 2nd i see talk of guy who sells the plastick joints in holland has anyone got upto date contact details for him cheers dave
