  1. I have a 2002 C4S manual trans with 42k miles. I'm hearing this high pitch whinning sound coming from the rear while on 3rd gear. Not happening on any other gear. Sound comes on only when I'm on the thottle. I've had 2 mechanics, one independent Porsche shop and the other was a Porsche dealer and both of them found nothing mechanically wrong. The car drives fine but it is so annoying that it makes me want to get out of 3rd right away. I'd like to get to the bottom of it while the car is still under extended warranty. I'm afraid it might turn into something major later on. I'm asking if any C4S owners have had this issue as well or if anyone have any idea on what could possibly be the problem.
  2. Problem solve. I was missing the pin lock which goes in the center of the shifter cable round connector.
  3. Just so it's clear to me. Please clarify: 1) When you say "Try 5-7 threads from the end.." you mean from neutral position, right? 2) What do you mean by: "reverse is easier to guess (and test) than the other gears".
  4. Loren thanks for your help. I will try it and let you know.
  5. So I just need to play around with adjustment, right? For this I need the alignment tool right? Where can buy one?
  6. it's the end of the cable linkage where the sping is. It's part of the stock kit. I'm stomp at how to keep it from sliding out of position. How does it lock in place?
  7. It is coming lose from the round connector at the end of the cable.
  8. I just installed a B&M SSK and now having some problems. I'm kicking myself cuz I failed to do my research before diving into this project. I'm hoping to get pointers from the experts here. What is my best way out? I'm having problems with one of the linkage cable falling out after installing the B&M SSK. It is the linkage attached to white plastic lever. I believe this is for the reverse gear. A nice photo shot of it is shown on page 12/14 of the DYI photo gallery below. http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/album122/evo10 Everything works fine right after the installation then the reverse cable would slowly come loose. There is nothing holding the cable end in place as opposed to the shifter cable where it is connected by a ball joint. So the cable falls out when it moves to the right at all. It has nothing to do with the B&M since both pieces are from stock. What am I missing? Can this be an allignment problem? If so, where can I find the allignment tool? Any help/suggestions is appreciated. ---Romy
  9. I too have this problem. I hace 02 c4s coupe. Mine kicks in at 3rd gear 3500 RPM. I've had 2 professional mechanics including a Porsche dealership check it but neither one could give me a definitive answer. They both assured me there's nothing mechanically wrong with my car.
