  1. Is there a good solution available to replace the rear shock/TB setup with coilovers in a 944/1('84)?
  2. Can the UMI (WITH USB!) be retrofitted to a Gen 1 997 or does this require the new PCM? ( I am aware of the Denison and tooki and do not want those. I also am aware of the cost to retrofit a PCM 3 and do not want that either. Just to know if the UMI will work...)
  3. I don't think you can make it, but you may be able to ask it :) I do not know of any setting available within the OEM system. However, these folks do have a module you can add that has this ability I believe. http://www.mods4cars.com/
  4. All stations do the same thing and TP is off. Nothing has changed as far as settings from when it did work.
  5. Okay, 2008 997S purchased new about 4 months ago. Overactive Rear Spoiler: I have noticed this when I get into the car with the spoiler down and drive to say the other side of the mall (never exceeding about 30mph). When I turn the car off and get out the rear spoiler is up. Doesn't happen all the time, but often enough. PCM Going Verruckt: For the last few weeks I noticed the station and song title displaying in the gauge cluster was not changing. It read Madonna and some other crap. Well, this morning I get in and all I get is 4 dashes. The actual PCM display is fine, just nothing in the gauge cluster. PCM has the latest firmware and there are no diagnostics codes read. Any ideas?
  6. I believe there is more than one step to updating the PCM. After the first step you are supposed to leave the disc in and when the PCM comes back up you get this message and continue the update. So, I would guess the update on yours was not completed properly.
  7. Try 944online.com for a good used wheel/tire...
  8. I do not think this plate is standard on S's. There is not one present on my '08 S nor was there one on the '07 I had... FWIW, SunCoast sells the plate for about $99 that will fit 996 and 997, but not Turbo, GT2 or GT3...
  9. When I had my 2005 987 I had a changer added by the dealer. Even tho it showed the "!" it worked fine. That same car would not play MP3's and I couldn't get over it, so I bought a new 997 :) Anything for an excuse ya know...
  10. He had the oil changed. Probably just oil dripping down that was spilt when taking the filter off. Otherwise, probable (not likely) loose oil filter, oil sender, etc.....
  11. You'll need rear 23 and front 19 et's. I got mine from TireRack...
  12. Been there, done that. Was a waste of time and money. The compressor is old and has worn parts, not just seals. Rebuilt from my dealer was just as much as a quality rebuilt anywhere else and the dealer is not somebody you have never seen over the internet. I got lucky when I ordered the compressor from the dealer, a brand new one came. Same price. I am real pickey about A/C. As in it better work, its been hot in Texas and everywhere else for that matter. I took a deep breath and took it to my Indy and had the compressor, dryer, condensor, hoses, and expansion valve replaced. It works and it's all warrantied. David
  13. Yes the design was changed. Mine broke 1 month in. Dealer replaced....
  14. I have gotten as far as the wheel itself and the module for the steering wheel. The dealers head mechinanic did not have any information or documentation for retrofitting so I put it off. This was about 8 months ago. The signals from the controller are combiled and relayed via a single core cable (optic?). This appears to then go to the combined steering column module (we already have) and is then processed for CAN transmission. So you have the wheel itself, the module (may require very minimal wiring), and a connection to the steering module. Then coding with PIWIS. Since you have reminded me of this and bonuses are in I am going to shoot an email to the mechanic and see if any retroffiting news has come in for this. Since all of these goodies are driven by additional modules passing information to the PCM, I personally think Chrono could be added without the clock as well. Time will tell and of course there is no telling about the $$$. David
  15. The change was made in production around April 2005. You either have to swap out the entire unit for the latest PCM sat nav unit or buy a new Boxster/Cayman...... neither of which is cheap! Another option is to hook up an MP3 player but thats not easy either....... Denison are hopefully going to produce a connector cable that works with the Porsche system so that you can plug in your iPod Following up on that - did the 2005 PCM unit have MP3 capability? Or was that new in 2006?
