  1. My bose amp has died - I'd happily just replace it but I've missed out on a couple of amps on eBay and I've now amassed enough parts to do a HU and amp replacement. Can someone help explain how to get the sub out off the passenger footwell? I've undone the bolt near the firewall and I believe there s one near the seat but I can't find it! What about the construction of the amp? I've read loads about wiring the two speakers in series to get the resistance up to 4ohms ish to suit an aftermarket amp but now I'm worried that's only for coupe bise subs and nt cabs. My plan is to run the door/dash speakers in series and the rears straight from my new HU and I've got an amp going in the cd changer area for the sub ... but that's relying on a 4 ohm lad and not a 1 ohm one. Mine is a UK car so RHD with the sub on the left. Cheers, Duncan
  2. Hi Serge - Thread resurrection time (thank you google! :) )anything special about your setup? I have a Bose MOST PCM2 in my car which has failed with the "Cannot communicate with amplifier, CD Changer, Telephone" MOST failure and no audio. I'd very much like to switch to speaker output on the PCM2 and I'll hook up a speaker driven amp to driver the speakers. Is this the same process that you went through or was your PCM2 always coded to speaker out ... can you confirm the steps required? I have a loopback and I have durametric PIWIS. I'm pretty sure that the root cause of my MOST problems is the amp, in an ideal world I'd actually like to loop out the amp, keep the rest of the MOST components running, and just run from the speaker terminals. I know most people go for a head unit swap out ... but I'd really like to keep the system running if I can.
  3. Hi everyone - I've got an intermittent problem with my PCM2 Bose system in my C4S. Sometimes the system will work fine (like when I bought the car and ran it for 2 weeks!) and then other times I'll get no audio when switching on and an error on the screen that there is a problem with the changer, amplifer, and telephone module. When in the fault condition the radio visually is fine (station name, volume control) but pressing the tel button returns a "no telephone module" error. I've tried a few bits: * drivers's seat out (UK car) and checked the telephone module MOST connection. * head unit out and checked connection * amp out and checked connection No real improvement from that lot (although 30 minutes later the radio was working ... and then died again :(). I'm hoping that someone can hand out some basics for how MOST works so that I can diagnose the fault. I don't have PIWIS but if there's a genuine way of furthering the debug I'll pick a cable up. * Red light - when should it be in the cable? When I checked the MOST connections to the telephone module I didn't see any red light in the optical connector. When I removed the amp I did see the light. I don't recall exactly if I'd turned on the ignition before starting the telephone work (but its likely I guess), I'm pretty sure I did after the telephone and before the amp cable check. Does the red optical light come on only when the head unit is active, or is there a timeout that it stays on for after the head unit is off, or maybe its on all of the time (unlikely!). * What can I do with the PIWIS software? Frankly I've no interest in the telephone module and I've read that its quite high up the list of MOST functions that the radio checks on power up (no way to back this up though). Is it possible to disable and enable the separate MOST bus functions to fault check which item is causing the problem? I'd be really grateful for any advice!
