  1. I haven't installed an amp but there's line outs according to the diagram here: http://www.beckerautosound.com/porscheconn.html for the pulling tools I know they sell them, cheap too (less than $5 I think), you can call them here: Becker of North America, 16 Park way, Upper Saddle River, NJ, 07458 (888)423-3537 x1209 (201)327-3434 x1209 I just ordered the line in plug for the cdr220 and it got here in 2 days and the kit came with the removal tools
  2. now that is neat, thanks for posting that Tool Pants I wonder if I'd need a better antenna than what my tuner came with, I notice that one is a Terk which I think are usually sold as "better" antennas
  3. I actually hadn't tried the dash yet, guess I'll do that on the way home :)
  4. so I've got a Sirius S50, which so far is great and will get much better once my hardwire kit comes from Becker (cdr220) currently I've got the antenna run shoddily under the passenger seat ending up behind the rollbars on top of the speaker shelf figuring the plastic window will be more or less transparent... well maybe it's too close to the rollbars at the moment but the reception isn't so good depending on the direction I'm driving so, my question, anybody have any good ideas abotu where I can place the antenna? it's not something I really want to put on the body anywhere
  5. 1st picture: subwoofer + 12v plug 2nd picture: handle to pull up carpet and get to... something
  6. I actually showed her your pictures before we went to the store to exchange them, she figures that if the guy doesn't stop with the 110db horns he's not going to stop with the 118db ones :)
  7. so last week I'd bought the Hella dual horn air horn for installation this past weekend since one of the two stock horns was dead (4 years 9600 miles, wtf?) my wife was none to pleased with the idea of an air horn and since she does own half of it we compromised by returning the kit and buying the Hella Compact Trumpet horns which are a direct replacement for the stock horns except for the wiring harness now these horns are only rated at 110db but still considerably louder than stock and definately gets the attention of the Boston area drivers that I commute with every day of course the air horns will be considerably louder, 8db is a big difference, but these at least have zero delay part of me still wants the air horns but these were so damned easy to install that I figure it was a good compromise
  8. huh, i never noticed ToolPants mentioned the relay, now I feel stupid for asking
  9. I've got my airhorn kit and I'm going to do it this weekend, but I'm wondering about the relays since I'll be disconnecting and replacing the stock horn and tapping the existing wires, can I just tap the existing wiring and use the relay that's already set up for that circuit? thanks, Tom
  10. it's probably just a lightbulb, but to change it you need to remove the cluster, looking at the bentley manual it appears to be pretty easy there's a torx head behind the hazard light switch, another on the opposite side, then you pull the thing forward, disconnect the connectors, and slide it out then you undo two screws that hold the cluster into the dash part, undo the metal brackets that hold the cluster together and there you are with all the bulbs I think they're EBS-P/4-A 1.5w's edit: and I'm too slow
  11. thanks! so I guess I should rtfm :) that makes sense, I've had a few pretty stupid moments not making sure the rear lid is closed all the way
  12. could that be a dirty contact or loose wire or something? it seems very odd and I admittedly haven't done much investigating yet, it's just... weird
  13. that would be awesome, I'll have to go sign up! any chance you can post a link? I can't find it on the ppbb or the bentley forum
  14. sometimes they do look just plain cool, but with the amount of work to keep them clean I think I'd prefer anthracite or the stock silver
  15. it's just paper at the moment but I think I'm going to buy it anyway http://www.bentleypublishers.com/product.htm?code=PB04
  16. thanks! nope, I didn't know I could look up prices, sweet :) could you give me #11 too, may as well prepare myself for that cost too :)
  17. **** you're quick! and **** that picture has a lot of parts I'll need a #12, two #13's, two #17's, a bunch of #14's and #18's I need to go get under my car again, it looks like the middle part of #11 maybe be on my car, the rest is on the muffler thanks Loren!
  18. hi, I think I have the top mounting stuff intact, 2 things that spin around with nuts and bolts to attache to the trunk bottom there's 2 threaded rods but they don't have any nuts, so I assume I need the nuts and washers for that there's 2 spring looking parts with oops, I assume I need a nut bolt and washer for those most importantly, as the other stuff can probably be found at a hardware store, I need to the gaskets to link the muffler to the pipes thanks a ton, tom
  19. speaking from experience with marine canvas only, you probably could patch it, but with the tension put on the top you'd probably need a very large patch no matter how clean the tear was, you'd also have to take the top off and put it back on again if I had to do that, I'd think it were a perfect time to try out one of the glass tops mentioned in this thread http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...03&hl=glass+top they seem to go between $700 and $900 depending on where you look and what color you want, and should be installable by somebody who's mechanically inclined in an afternoon there have been reports of the early GAHH tops having problems with the adhesive letting go and the glass and top separating, but the new ones aren't supposed to have that problem though I personally haven't found confirmation of that whichever way you go, good luck :)
  20. stock mufflers (oops title too long) so I just bought a 2002 Boxster S and as far as I can tell the PO just put on SuperSprint mufflers, of course the old mufflers are no where to be found (sigh) so now I'm looking for options, with the stock sound being so nice I'm thinking about getting the stock muffler but I'm wondering if the only difference between the two available is the tips I was looking at the Dansk (what i think are the oem parts) POR073107 (1 tip) or the POR073946 (dual tip) personally I think the dual tip looks better so I'm leaning that way anyway, anybody have any suggestions?
  21. why do I picture that shooting at my head if the airbag fires?
  22. Plexus seems to be the most used. It's what I use. if Plexus won't clean it use Flitz and a microfiber rag(yes seriously) I've been using it on the dodger of my sailboat for years and it's the same type of plastic, having just bought my 986 and it having a foggy window at purchase, Plexus wouldn't clean it, 1 pass of Flitz brought it back to 85%, another to nearly new if you don't know what Flitz is, it's a metal polish that's non corrosive, non abrasive, and has a protectant in it, it's the best stuff in the world edit: here's a link http://www.flitz-polish.com/?source=gg&cam...name&term=flitz
