Convertible top problem

Hi guys I am running into the a different problem (i have a porsche boxster from 98) I shorten my cables and this seemed to work , both transmissions worked however when installing the pushrods and testing the roof not verything worked according to plan somehow the pushrods got disconnected but more alarming I think my transmission on the driver side failed, I can now freely move around the v lever on the transmission (do you guys think my transmission is a dead now?)
