  1. update, I actually got a Bose 5.25" woofer.I bought an old Acoustimass system from a yard sale and the woofers - there are 2 in the bass module - are exactly the same! who knew!?!
  2. hey big! thanks for the reply. that's the crazy thing though, it's not showing any codes particular to the instrument cluster or ECU when we scanned it! it actually happened once when I was at my independent getting some vacuum lines swapped out and he immediately connected his scan tool and there was nothing showing other than the vacuum and intake leaks I was there for in the first place. there's no reduction in performance and I can see and feel the box upshifting and downshifting normally as I drive it. it doesn't lock up in any particular gear. I can turn it off, turn it back on and it's back to normal for another 30mins or so. I'm guessing it's electrical - something is getting hot and causing a bad connection.
  3. hmm...that's curious. my issue is I get an odd display/warning in the gear selector indicators but the tranny upshifts and downshifts smoothly through all gears and it isn't throwing any codes! the car drives normally but the cluster gives this wacky warning after about 25-30 mins of driving. I've driven 60 miles like this and no problems encountered whatsoever. I had the tranny serviced at 119k before this started happening.
  4. okay update. took everything apart and reconnected the new amp. still no joy. did the 1-4-8 reset and the new amp works just fine. just fine enough for me to discover the subwoofer is blown too! gotta love it!
  5. Have you tried the " 1-4-8" reset? Seems to resolve a few odd issues with PCM
  6. Hi All! Old post I know but I finally got around to installing a new amp and the sub still doesn't work. Does the new amp need to be coded to the car? Thanks in advance.
  7. Well guess I'll be replacing mine too. I've been noticing my music sounding thinner and thinner week by week. Today I decided to investigate and here we go! Anybody have a working sub or sub amp you'd like to part with?
  8. Today I had the great pleasure of meeting the legend himself, in person! Eddie Bello ladies and gents! What a really nice guy too!
  9. Hi All! I have a question for the group. I noticed today my map screen is freezing on my last stop. The navigation works fine when I put in a new destination and activate the route guidance but when I come to a stop, or slow significantly, the map will default back to my last location. For example, the last destination I entered was Brookdale, NJ and today I put in Brookhaven, NY. The system worked fine but when ever I would slow down significantly, or come to a stop the map would go back to the NJ location and then return to my current route once I was back at speed. Any ideas? Thanks

  12. coming from the insurance industry (no hate mail please...) this is great news for me
  13. Car should be running with brakes applied and gear selector in neutral
  14. have you tried 928 specialists @ 828-290-9280 email: jr928gt@gmail.com
  15. I thought about doing it but I think martadon is right - more expense and hassle than benefit
  16. I've experienced this unfortunately a few times with 928s - broken welded camshaft, bad crank sensor, dual-mass flywheel came apart, bad neutral safety switch and last time was a broken timing belt tensioner but the engine just freewheeled then as it bent every valve in creation. I'm not sure a seized water pump would act this way as usually the plastic impeller just breaks off the steel or alloy shaft but the motor may still turn over. is your clutch in good health?
  17. Have done compression and leak down tests? no codes? you sure? crank sensor, cam sensor, neutral safety?
