thank you for your advice,,,turns out all i needed to do was drive it around for a little while and the two systems reset themselves,,,so windows and mirrors all work and PSM and sportmode systems are functioning fine. cheers KJS
thank you, Sir,,,you were correct, i had not fully seated the power window module into its receptacle,,,when i did that the windows and mirrors worked as they should,,,i still have the fault/warnings for the PSM and Sportmode,,,,not sure what the reset procedure is,,help with that would be appreciated! thank you again (at least now with the windows up i can drive around in inclement weather)! yesterday i removed and replaced the inside drivers door handle actuator components on my 2007 cab. the door handle components stuff R&R went smooth enough, but the following is what happened (didn't happen) when i was done. i did disconnect the battery negative lead for starters. upon removing the inner door panel i also disconnected the stereo speaker module and power window module (the gray module with the yellow locking lever). the drivers door window was up during the R&R i R&Red the handle mechanism and put everything back together,,,i reconnected the battery negative lead and heard the drivers door window go down a bit (about a half inch). when i started the car i got a "PSM failure" warning on the dash as well as "sport mode failure",,,the two power window switches on the drivers door did not activate either the drivers door window nor the passengers door window and the power mirror button did not actuate the outside mirrors (the passengers door window does work using that door's switch), the convertible top does open and close and when opening it caused the all four windows to go down but when closed it did not raise the drivers door window. i checked all the fuses for the affected systems and they all look fine. when reconnecting the power window module (the gray module with the yellow locking lever) could i have installed that upside down? is that possible or is that the type of module that can only be installed one way (one would think so, but i never know for sure,,,) any ideas on what i should do/check next? thanks in advance for any help/guidance,much appreciated KJS
Thanks for the advice regarding checking grounds, what ended up to be the problem was a "short" in the circuit. to explain further: (goes back to my earlier statement of perhaps a "rookie question") a couple of years ago i had a willwood systems trailer hitch installed on my car in order to pull a small trailer with track wheels and tires and such. with that hitch i also had a wire harness installed that tied into the rear lights harness. the plug on the trailer harness is a typical 4 prong plug, (three female, one male),,the cover for that plug was missing and the male prong was in contact with the hitch receiver, (i noticed that when putting in my bike rack last night into the hitch receiver),,,,when i moved the trailer light harness away from the receiver all the lights worked fine,, new plug cover is now on the car,,, thanks again for the help! i just finished checking all the connections again, and double checked the fuse (and swapped the relevant fuse out with one that was servicing a known good circuit), and checked/confirmed again that one suspect bulb did illuminate when brakes were applied. looked much closer this time at the wires going into the plug ( at the wire harness end) and everything looks solid and well connected; no tears, breaks or anything loose, did the same for the wires on the taillight housing side of the connections,,everything seems to be solid and in good order. any advice on where to go next? again, thanks much for the help and guidance. cheers
roger that, i double checked the connections last night when swapping bulbs from side to side, but it certainly wont hurt to do that again. (the one bulb (most inboard/most aft) does work when brakes are applied but does not work when just the tail light should be illuminated)
greetings, perhaps a rookie question here, i recently received a "check right rear tail light" warning upon engine start up, i checked the lights and sure enough three bulbs in the right rear taillight housing were not illuminated when the headlight switch was turned on,,the directional signal light worked, brake light illuminated when brake pressure applied, back up light worked as well. i removed the three suspect bulbs and they all looked good,,i swapped them with the known functioning left hand bulbs and the three previously suspect bulbs worked fine in the left hand housing and the three known good bulbs from the left did not function in the right hand housing. the fuse checked out fine, no break at all, no visible degradation at all. in the spirit of full disclosure about 4 days before i received the first warning i had removed both tail light housings in order to do some work behind the bumper cover,,but everything went back together fine and a check of all lights showed them functioning as they should,,,,and there were no dash warnings until days later,,, any ideas on what to check next? thanks in advance for any help offered, cheers KJS
just curious if any members have upgraded their 997s from the stock suspension configuration to a configuration that's sportier( i'm presuming some have...). I have a 07 Cab with 57K miles on it, completely stock and is my daily driver. I go to DE events about once every other month and am wanting a configuration that is a bit more geared for track but still somewhat comfortable on the street. looking for some advice/guidance/experience/recommendations from folks that have upgraded their suspensions. thanks in advance! cheers

Schilling replied to andyjoshi's topic in 997-1 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 2S, Carrera 4S)Any advice on how to overcome what seems to be a siezed 8mm oil pan drain plug? tried very very carefuly to remove the plug (in order to do a oil and oil filter change myself rather than spring for $230 at the local dealer). i certainly don't want t.o deform the plug (this is the first 997 i've owned but i've aalways changed my own oil in previous cars and am somewhat mechanically minded). any help/advice is appreciated
