  1. Well, I had it all apart to clean the throttle body today. The darn thing stalled out on me last night - out for dinner, came back and re-started car, temp around 100+ degrees, idle three blocks thru two stop signs, and it stalled. So I figured the throttle body might need cleaning. Anyway, there is no Tip breather on mine. I checked the OEM hose that was in my spare parts box, and it only has the branch for the air box muffler. So, no other breather. Thanks to everyone who replied, and thanks for the advice and direction. Mystery solved, I think. Now as long as it doesn't stall again....
  2. Mine has the usual bypass hose to the air box muffler in that location. That hose is part of the stock air hose, and is removed. The air box muffler is then capped off as usual. I do have the original hose that came with the car. I guess I'll need to examine that also. I was told by someone else that not all 996s have this Tiptronic breather either. I do agree with you, that if it has one, hooking it to the air box would be the ideal way to go, to ensure that it has filtered air, etc. Thanks for taking the time to post the pic!
  3. Greetings! I am new to the forum. I recently purchased a 1999 996 C2 with Tiptronic trans, and I have a question. The previous owner installed the red intake hose and BMC filter. They air box muffler is blocked off, but not removed. The big question I have is: Where is the breather hose for the Tiptronic? I read that it must have it's own filter installed when this mod is done. But I cannot find the hose and/or breather. It's possible that I'm looking in the wrong place. But I want to be sure it was done right. Can someone direct me to the correct location? Where does the hose go (or where SHOULD it go)? Without a stock vehicle to compare to, I'm a little lost. Thanks!
  4. Greetings! First post. I just purchased a nice used 1999 C2. The info on this and other forums has been incredibly helpful. Thanks in advance to everyone whose postings will help me in my ownership experience. I am looking for a source for an Owners Manual for my 1999 996 C2 Tiptronic coupe. It is too old to be available as a pdf file. And I have not found one from any of the "usual suspects". Does anyone know where I can find this? There's a few functions that I have not yet sorted out, and it would be helpful. As an alternative, I have found a 2001 OM for sale. It seems to me that it should be pretty close. What does everyone think of that? Am I right or wrong in that assumption? Thanks again!!
