  1. Hello, Has anyone converted their standard H7 fog lamps to HID. There are several listings on ebay and on websites on HID conversion kits. Anyone has any experience with their fog lamps? If so was is it an easy install? Thomas
  2. Hi took out my navigation unit to see that part number is 996.642.122.12 is that a 16bit unit?
  3. Hello does anyone know whether there are maps for Greece? I do not care if they are made for Opel or any other make as long as the work on my 2002 Porsche Boxster PCM1 (not usre whether 8-bit or 16-bit).
  4. Loren, Mine is for sure PCM1 which from your response does NOT have MOST, correct? Does that mean if I replace unit (PCM1) with an AVIC type system and the following will work: 1. The CD changer 2. The factory amplifier 3. The NAVi antenna (factory) ??
  5. I have the PCM1 with Navigation on a 2002 Boxster S (European) and not sure whether its a fiber optic MOST version. Can I tell from the PCM code card? It shows as serial number SI 0815 1 0007771? I would like to replace it with an AVIC system and was wondering whether the following will work: 1. The CD changer 2. The factory amplifier 3. The NAVi antenna (factory) I know it has been discussed several times but I am puzzled with the responses.
  6. Many thanks, do you have in mind any 3rd party NAV to suggest that could fit in the slot and also look "factory"?
  7. Hello, I own a 2002 Boxster S with PCM1 navigation system and was wondering if I can easily install a PCM2 system in order to be able to have navigation maps for Greece (currently there are no maps available for Greece for PCM1, unless someone knows where to find them). The whole idea is not to over-spend and more importantly I would like to keep the look of the car as stock as possible.
  8. Hi just saw the launch of the new Range Rover Sport (RRS) and it makes me wonder: 2013 Cayenne or 2014 Range Rover Sport? I was thinking the diesel Cayenne or Hybrid, however the 3.0lt RRS claims 28mpg, not bad.
  9. You are forgetting something very important besides the leg room. The Panamera lacks trunk space that the Cayenne has plenty. When you have kids you have strollers, bikes, bags, more bags etc. So take that into consideration seriously.
  10. Thanks a lot to all of you. I guess I will follow the last suggestion and go for N-rated to be on the safe side.
  11. Hello want to replace my tires on a 2002 Boxster S. I have spotted the Pirelli P Zero but for my rims 225/40/18 and 265/35/18 Pirelli has not gotten from Porsche the N-rating. They have however the Pirelli Zero Rosso. Would it matter or have any driving effects if I install a non-N rated tires?
  12. Since it is hard for me to intrepet the diagram I pressume its part 4 or 14 (it is basically the mettalic base that screws on the door and where the mirror sits on. It also has a plastic cover to "cover" the whole part.
  13. Hello I am looking for the part number for driver's side exterior mirror bracket for a 2002 Boxster. It is the mettalic bracket that holds the mirror on the door panel. It also has a plastic cover attached to it to cover the mettallic bracket.
  14. Hello, Want to replace the convertible top of my 02 Boxster with an after-market one with glass. I saw a few ones on the internet but I sm puzzled which one to choose. Choices are: GAHH Robbins BAS Can you please recommend which one shall I choose. Concerned on durability (dryness), looks and also the defrost lines on the rear window being too visible/ yellowish. Would also welcome other suggestions. Your help is needed. Thomas
  15. As I was cleaning my 2002 Boxster S yesterday I broke the clock reset button on the dash just above the gauges. Does anyone know how to fix it or replace it and where to find the part. Any suggestions on installation instructions for a new one. Thomas
  16. I just had my rear right wheel ball bearing replaced on my 2002 Boxster S with 31000kms (20k miles). It was Euro 207 ($260) including labor. But was surprised it came so early. Thomas
  17. On my 2002 Boxster S the windows remain at the lower position (not too practical!) Thomas
  18. I own a Touareg and had just replaced my fog lights (similar to the Cayenne) with PIAA H11 Extreme White. They perfectly match the Xenon lights on the car.
  19. Can someone summarize what is the best solution for convertible top replacement with glass window? Question 1, any suggestions out of the following manufacturers: 1. GAHH 2. Cabrioworld 3. BAS 4. Robbins Auto Question 2 is what material is best: 1. Haartz Sonnendeck 2. German canvas (if that is different) Question 3 I own a Blue Boxster S with natural leather brown and indigo blue top. I was wondering hwether it would look good when changing the top to buy a dark tan one instead of the blue. Has anyone seen one around ?Doe sit look good? or will I be making the car look totally non-OEM? Thomas
  20. I finally changed both the high beams and the fog lights with PIAA H7 in Extreme White 4700K. I have attached a picture of the Boxster with the PIAA bulbs on. The left hand side of the car the fog lights are the stock ones and on the right hand side of the car (passenger's side) the fog lights have been changed to PIAA. You can tell the difference (although not so clear in the picture) where the new fog lights are not yellowish. Thanks all for the help. Thomas
  21. Hello I own a 2002 Boxster S and I am about to install the new style European license plates. I have seen some Porsches from Germany with license plate frames that the plates slide in (without having to drill a hole on the plate) while it attaches perfectly (with a little bend) around the front bumper. Does anyone know where I can find such plate frame? Anywhere? Thomas
  22. My Boxster S is tiptronic. What do I do then, buy a Carrera tiptronic front?
  23. Guys, Thanks so much for all your replies. I spoke to an authorized PIAA dealer in the UK and ordered two sets of PIAA Xtreme Force H7 4700K to replace the fog and the high beams. Will take some pictures before and after and post them on the forum. If they do not work well I will go back to the OEM ones. Thomas
