  1. Installed the Bosch 150amp. Order from Amazon as JFP suggested. Took a little time to remove the old 120 amp unit but the new 150 amp dropped right in as direct replacement. Been driving for 2 weeks with no issues. Could not be more pleased at the value of this alternative unit. Thanks guys for the great find!
  2. Yeah, the rear bolt is a challenge. I had success by removing the temperature sensor, it slides out to the right, and then using a 3/8 drive with 6 inch extension and universal joint extension. It's amazing how just a little more room makes all the difference, and a little extension mirror to see the bolt location.

  5. The Airlift tool is great. You will need an air compressor. Used it this pass winter to perform a coolant change, water pump/thermostat replacement, and the center radiator cooling system upgrade.

  8. I concur that the front and rear should of the same make and model. With that said, I've been running Michelins Pilot Super Sports the past 2 years and just ordered replacement rears.

  10. JasonStern makes a great point. The 996TT is based on the GT1 engine, therefore, it and the 996 GT3 do not have the IMS issue of the M96/97 engines. The price point for what you get really makes these a great buy.

  14. heat exchanger. For emission purposes the exchanger heats the oil during warm up and helps cool the oil after warm up, therefore, this one of key reasons in slow driving conditions you will see your coolant temps raise. The advice above to test your thermostat to ensure it is working properly is right on, replacing with LN 160 is even better. Continuous Oil temps at 200+ F i is pretty tough on your oil in these engines.
