  1. Guess there aren't many P-Cars in KC? Well you're special!

    Maybe you can get them done via UPS? I know it sounds silly but Tire Rack supplies wheels with tires fitted. Maybe if you purchase the tires from them they could provide a return service?

    Well that is a thought, allthough I must say I would much rather have it all done within a day or two. Besides I already have new Rossa's sitting in the garage. There has to be some Porsche's here, I'm just not seeing'em. I have already met a few people here that know of a Porsche Guru. Believe you me, I am trying to make contact with him.

  2. Ok, I just did not want to make a mess if it was avoidable as this is the big hose that goes up the drivers sided to the front. and I'm really not sure how much fluid to expect? The clamp where the hose goes onto the pipe is the problem(thank God, easy fix). I'll go do it now, outside, in Kansas City, 30 degrees, with a 15mph, crosswind, can't risk messin in the garage! Doh I forgot to ge some coolant while I was at the dealers today! Thanks again.

  3. I've done it. It's easy. I don't remember there being any special precautions at all. It just takes some time to get the air filter housing and related stuff out of the way. Also, I think I used a 1" combination wrench (which works out to 25.4 mm), instead of a 24 mm wrench/socket like the DIY says. I can't remember if the 24 mm didn't fit or what. The 1" combination wrench was big enough to give me good leverage against the main pulley tension.

    It took me all of 8 minutes to do the full job less re-instaling the airbox. I had the same issue wit not having a 24mm, but it equates to a 15/16ths and all was well! Also did some cleaning, and well now I am trying to complete the original reason I noted this needed replacing. How do I get the coolant out of this engine???

  4. Please someone help me I just got oil on my hands attemptin to drain some coolant from around the thermostat housing!?! I remember reading somewhere in here "of course I cannot reproduce the thread" that there is a nut on the bottom of the engine that will allow you to drain off enough coolant to replace a hose or whatnot. Please help! :cursing: :cursing: :soapbox: :soapbox:

    Hi well for the time being I am in Kansas City. I would like to be able to link up with a couple of owners and share recepies, and info like where I can get my 19" staggered 3pc. Champion wheels tires changed without them getting scarred as Big O Tires did to my last set of 19" only $2800 for the set wheels. Ouch.

  6. That's great man! I would like to be the one with that joy! I am shopping around for a good setup for some nice deep notes. I'm not all into trying to make this the fastest car alive nor the loudest but I do so love the the deep grumbling at idle and and nice deep pitc`h throughout the powerband without hitting Nascar ranges as I like to hear my stereo and I am currently dynalining my cabin. to try and reduce the motor resonance in the cabin. I 'd like to know a bit about the GHL setup where you got it and the cost.   7. Hi, my 6 speed had the same thing when I got it. I was able to balance out the difference by driving and adjusting as recommended by the guy I bought it from. There was more travel into certain gears then other. It was not a problem until I noticed that certain gears weren't engaging fully and occasionally would not stay in gear. With the problem of hitting a little something when heading into gear, I adjusted the blue connector until I got a uniform engagement (note this is with the engine off), then I started to adjust the black cable I tried for and hour and felt as though I was chasing the wind. Then I took it to one extreme and then the other and was able to find the proper amount of travel into gear, once I felt I had it I took it out in the suburbs and made some small adjustments as it seemed to react a little different when driving. It is not an exact science but you will get the feel for it. I now have a little resistance into all gears, that these shifters are common for and most love! But again you should feel uniform resistance while shifting into all gears, and an equal amount of travel into each gear. Should follow a pattern like this. up resistance in, down resistance in, and so on. But truely you have to take it on the road to get the finals right.     Planning on putting this unit in my 99 c2 tiptronic.

    Does anyone know here the speed sensor wire is or the speed sensor itself (or if the car even has one)

    Has anyone had to find this wire in installing this or other units?

    does anyone have any guidance on actually doing the install (from experience or otherwise!)

    Hi, never did it with a 911 before but yea I have done a few. It is a pretty basic thing much like hooking up a power antenna line or amplifier turn on lead. Your unit should measure the output from the wire and adjust the sound of the unit to compensate for that lovely engine purring. Myself I would just skip it and enjoy the sound of the engine! I'm not sure if my stereo adjusts to the speed, but if you know yours did then you'll already have the wire there at the head-unit. Nonethe less I'm sure as soon as everyone sobers up someone will help you out as the wire is in the 911's somewhere as they have speed adjusting power steering. Good luck and this would probably be something cool to get pics of and set up a DIY on Happy New Year!

  9. If your tank and cap have never been changed then I would include them as suspect also. Some of the early MY99 cars had some hose clamp problems too. A picture of the bad hose and location will certainly help - cause there are a lot of hoses on these cars.

  10. Can anyone help me to get the part numbers or even identify a hose on my 99 C2. I will describe and try and get pics of it. The hose looks as though it had suffered and earthquake, there is the obvious crack line but it looks as though the rubber has been cooked and started to shrink and peel away. Kinda like when you see people paint their cars where it looks like the metal has been ripped by something. I'll try and get good pics. I know I was reading throught the DIY (researching coolant tank problems as I was told there was an issue with them)and saw something with a diagram of the hoses but of course now I cannot find it. OK I do not know how to load pics so here the in depth discription. This hose is 2" dia. from where it starts on the bottom of the motor it comes off what appears to the thermostat housing up to the frame wher it appears to become a approx. a 3/4"- 1" hose then it expands back into to a 2" hose that you see as a 90 elbow behin the intake snorkel and the black plastic thing that is in front of the coolant resevoir, well it the turns again and runs under the resivoir back to wwhat appears to be a fixed metal pipe that goes through the firewall?
