  1. The adapter cable that comes with the PST2 goes the other end ie the PST end.
  2. The cable to PIWIS connection (plug) is different to that of the older PST2. On the PST2 the is a short adapter cable that connects to either the round or OBD2 cable. I assume that is the adapter cable you are referring to Richard. So to make my PST2 'Round' cable to work on the PIWIS I would need to make a new adapter. There isn't a short adapter cable on the PIWIS.
  3. If you have a 996 (and the cable is for that car) then you need the newer OBD2 cable not the round one.
  4. I have the genuine Porsche cable with the 'round' plug for older cars. I would need to connect my PST2 rather than my PIWIS though.
  5. (Assuming not a RS) The bumper on its own is: 997 505 191 90 (No headlight washers) or 997 505 191 91 (With the washers)

  8. Yes there is ... however from the 2005 model Porsche disabled this and indeed the remote control version. You maybe able to get your dealer to re-enable this for you.
  9. From the key handover procedure: "Insert the key into the ignition lock and turn the ignition on. Then press the remote button until the blinking frequency rate of the central locking switch in the dashboard changes. Remove the key from the ignition lock and test function."
  10. A dealer can change the instrument cluster country coding from US to Europe, that will change the units for you. I have done this on my 2003 986 which is now in the UK.
  11. I have it .... there are changes I am sure as the map files etc have changed in size but I have yet to notice any significant differences.
  12. The PIWIS software interface is the same for gen 1 and gen 2 997s. The PIWIS detects the type for PCM you have fitted to the car. FYI the late 2008/9 turbos (gen 1s) came with PCM3. However, the issue you will have is that all the coding options for the PCM3 require a dealer code (pin number) that has to be obtained from Germany which is unique to a VIN number and the PCM fitted to the car.. I know Porsche have made PCM3 available as an aftermarket kit for gen 2s but I am not sure they will provide the codes unless you have a gen 2. So technically it is possible but in reality, currently it is not.
  13. If you have an 07 you should be OK. However the new Nav disc comes with same set of media update discs that came with the previous version so check out this link to be sure: TSB Link
  14. There is also an update for the European PCM 2.1 maps. The part number is 997 044 902 50, the cost is £303+VAT
  15. The transmitters internal to the wheel. The transmitter is attached on the inside of the valve stem.
  16. Have they made a more robust turn signal stalk mechanism yet? I'm on my second replacement on my 01, after the darn internal plastic tab broke off, effectively leaving the stalk non-canceling after turns. What a cheap unit they put in there. Valet parking 1 - DL 0 :angry: I bet now you have your very own Porsche garage the chances of you breaking it again are zero :)

  18. Awesome result, glad it worked out for you. Interesting experience and helpful feedback regarding the Lexan rear window - thank you. The US / North America spec GT3 RS comes equipped with a thin glass rear window only. The cost to replace the glass with the ROW spec Lexan plastic window is ~US$1,400 + installation for a 3KG weight savings. Most would consider the price too high to justify the weight savings. I have heard comments from some GT3 RS owners who have done the conversion that they experience rear window vibration noise at higher speeds when a side window is open. In North America only early production 2007 and no 2008 GT3 RS' came equipped with the stud plates welded to the floor of the tub used to install the front and rear roll bars. My RS (#2710) did not come with them. DOT regulations forbid the use of Lexan windows and the fitment of 'Track' roll bars to a street vehicle imported into the US. Nothing to say the owner can't fit them afterward though. With regards to the window rattle, it was never designed to have the windows down at speed. Don't get me started on what I think about driving on a race track with the top up and windows down !!!!
