I caught a branch down a country lane and cracked the lower mirror housing.
I have the work proceedure for the removal and refitting but has anyone else attempted this?
I have a new one on order and it is being painted as we speak.

No Macan 'Diesel S' for you guys then.
-
If you are refering to a 'welcome home' type of light (removing the key or unlocking the car) these can only be changed by a dealer using PIWIS
-
A long shot but once the headlight is removed you can access the fog/drving lamp. If you can remove this perhaps you can get access the screw from the opening with a long extension.

Where's Gundo with all the talk of oil burning 'Smoking' cars

Besides fault tracing the codes, I would also recommend re-setting the throttle plate adaption.
The OP has done this, ie disconnect the battery, reconnect, ignition on but don't start for 30 seconds then start, but it wasn't successful.
-
I'd wager that the codes are for RKAT values would indicate an overly lean O2 codes for banks 1 & 2 at idle.
Codes values do indicate lean at idle.

I thought it was more like...
Engine not running 3.8.
Engine running 3.3 (indicating functional FPR)
Just revisited the workshop manual says 3.8 for both static and idle.
-
The test of fuel pressure is done either static ie engine not running with the fuel pump activated using the PIWIS or at idle (no need for PIWIS) either way for an 2005 Boxster S you should get 3.8 bar +/- 0.2 bar.

Nick,
I removed the battery cover and plastic trim next to it but could not find the GPS aerial... Maybe I could not recognize it. What does it look like? How do I unplug/replug it? Some pics may help.
Tx for your help.
Also, since I had my car extensively washed, the sound of my horn changed, much less loud... Any idea?
Read you soon hopefully.
Not the best diagram but here goes:
Assuming your car is LHD: It is under the plastic cowl above the pollen filter, there is a foam flap over the pollen filter, it is above that, slightly towards the centre of the car.

Hi All,
First time I post a topic, though I have been reading a lot of them.
I have a Cayman S 2007, and after having my car get an extensive valet over the week end, I noticed the satnav would not detect any satellites, and when I try to locate my location on the map, the location is totally wrong.
It is not the first time it happens, and last time I had my gps antenna replaced by my local Posche dealer.
Before I do it again, can somebody tell me where the gps antenna is located? (with picture if possible) So I can try to unplug/replug it and see if it works?
Many thanks.
Under the plastic trim in front of the windscreen ie the one the wiper arms go through. The GPS aerial is just above the pollen filter (right hand side of car looking forward), you will have to remove the battery cover and plastic trim next to it to gain access.
-
If memory serves me correctly, on a 987 it is centrally mounted below the plastic cowl in front of the windscreen.

The failure of the 'Clutch Interlock Switch' is becoming a more common fault. I also had this fail on my 2008 Boxster S. The good news it is a simple switch replacement and the switch went intermittent rather than totally failing so I was able to get to a dealer.

I'm tired of standing on my head to access the egas pedal sensor on my 986, does anyone know if the later 1 piece gas pedal can be adapted?
I have to ask why do you want to?

Another source of the 'rattle' and sometimes put down to the heat shields is the parking brake cable being loose. This causes the brake shoes to rattle when passing over bumps at low speeds. It's very simple to confirm and fix; To confirm drive slowly over bumps and pull up the hand brake lever by a very small amount (not enough to engage the ratchet. If the rattle disappears it is the cable. To fix; the adjuster is under the tray in the centre console storage box. Park on a flat surface, release the parking brake; The are two nuts, one being a lock nut, release that; now adjust the cable so that the slack in the cable is just removed. The handbrake should still be able to be pulled up 3 clicks. Re-tighten the lock nut. The car should still moved when pushed on a single click

Follow-up: Problem solved - you do have to save your Preset selections to your seat memory button (which also saves your HVAC preference in addition to your seats and mirrors). So now the wifey and I can have our own tuner settings. :)
Crazy the radio presets controlled by the seat ..... next you will be telling us the seat settings are done by the radio.;)

Help! The PCM on my 2011 Cayenne is driving me crazy. I can't get it to store any of the radio or satellite stations on the Presets. I have followed the procedure for storing them initially (assigning stations to preset buttons), but whenever I stop and restart the car, they are lost. Is there something I'm missing, or is there a problem with my unit?
Very strange, have you tried a factory reset.
-
Yes, Porsche says the Steering Angle Sensor Calibration needs to be checked and/or re-calibrated with every alignment, suspension change, or after any accident.
.... and the calibration can only be done by a Porsche dealer with a PIWIS computer.

I bought a used 2007 C4 in 2009. I have always assumed the car to be bone stock. It has red brakes that say Porsche in white on the outside. At a recent autocross someone told me that my brakes had been upgraded with brakes from an S because red brakes were not available on the C4's. This put me in a panic because I am getting ready to sign up for my first national autocross at Parade, and if these brakes were not available as an option on the C4, then I will have to run in the Improved class (which allows any brake mods) alongside highly modified cars with track tires, open exhausts, upgraded suspensions, modified engines, etc. I'll get slayed.
I once saw a printout of the original options on this car. I would have been excited to find that I had a factory brake upgrade, and I don't think I would have forgotten it because the car only has a few options on it, and so my guess is that it was not an option on this particular car.
Were the larger red S brakes available as an option for the C4? If yes, then I am OK to run in a stock class at Parade. If they are later upgrades, is it likely that the larger rotors had to be added too? Likewise, is the increased capacity master cylinder found on the S models necessary to use the S brakes? Is there some way to tell if the brakes and brake system are from an S as opposed to just being painted or powder coated? Thanks in advance.
Mike M
It was possible to order the calipers painted red as an option under the exclusive program. You may still therefore have stock (C4) sized discs and pads on your car.

MY 930 TURBO SAYS YEAR OF MANUFACTURE 1989 HOWEVER I AM WANTING TO EXPORT TO AUSTRALIA AND I NEED THE ACTUAL BUILD DATE ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO FIND THIS OUT?
Having recently exported my cars to the UK, for export purposes you will need a certificate of origin. You get this from the Porsche HQ for the receiving country. Porsche UK required the emailing of the VIN plus a scanned copy of the title document. There was also fee of around $100.
The certificate was posted back to me and included:
Month and year of manufacture
Specification the car was manufactured to, including whether it is left
or right-hand drive
Which country the car was first delivered to
Model year of the vehicle
Original engine number
Original exterior colour
The US guys will say this is pretty much what is included in the US certificate of authenticity, less the build options but the format is totally different and what is expected by the import authorities.

UP :jump:
I would like to do this on my 06' Boxster, but I can't find the kit on the website, can anyone give me an address of a dealer?
:thankyou:
The guy who has been selling kits to Porsche owners for years (Harvey Peck) still has an ebay store, he will also send you the instructions to connect it to the amp in the front trunk:

Hi all.
I just bought an '07 C4S cab, and I'm in the process of personalizing it. Among other things, I've swapped out the PCM for a Pioneer AVIC Z120BT, which is great. However, as a result I've lost the use of all the buttons on the stock multifunction steering wheel. The wheel seems too thin, too, so I want to replace it. It looks like many of the aftermarket wheels that retain the airbag (e.g. DCT Motorsports) are sold without the silver tabs that sit between the airbag and the rim of the wheel. I have a set of those from my current wheel, obviously, but they have the non-functional buttons on them, and I want those gone. I can't seem to find replacement silver tabs without the buttons. I'd appreciate any thoughts or advice.
Thanks,
Scott
If you are after just the 'silver tabs' without buttons (and assuming a manual car otherwise parts different):

997 347 838 00 V04 - Right

Assuming your 2004 S is a LHD car the order code is 986320 if however it is a RHD car the correct order code would be 986321
