  1. I did some digging and found a little more info. Unfortunately since the body shop paid for the repair they got the invoice. I thought I had a copy but don’t. I do have the one for the diagnostic. The code was P0660. One of the causes I found for that is a bad DME Control Module. I’m pretty sure that was the one that was replaced. According to the shop owner it is a known problem that buffing over the area can kill that module. I also seem to remember that its an improperly grounded electric buffer that does it. Also could be static build up I suppose. I know that is all kinda vague but the owner retired and closed the shop so I can’t go ask him. I was hoping someone here might have heard of this sort of thing and have some idea how to prevent it. I know thousands of 911’s get detailed all the time so may not even be an issue. 2. A few years ago I had some body work done. When I picked it up there was a module that was dead. I can’t remember what it was but it wasn’t cheap. At the time I found out that it was caused by the buffer they used and they paid for the replacement. I’m thinking it was electric and there was a grounding issue. Anyway. I am about to have some extensive detailing done and don’t won’t this to happen again. Any advice on avoiding this issue? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I just had the stereo replaced in the car and they ran a backup camera. Had the battery disconnected with the top partially up for a good part of the day. When all done the top closed normally. A couple of days later when I took the car out the top opened normally but when I tried to put it back up it went part way and acted like it was hung. It did not appear that it was hung on the wire for the cam but that is possible. I was able to pull the top up by hand most of the way then the motor closed it the rest of the way. Today when I opened it it stopped just short of fully open and I got a top out of limit message. I reversed it a few inches and then it opened completely. Now it won't close. The calm shell opens and then I get a top out of limits msg. Does this sound like a calibration issue or a component failure? I guess it's possible that its hanging on the wire but the camera is working fine and the wire doesn't seem to be stretched. Any ideas I can try before I take it in?
  4. Thanks for the quick reply. Turned out to be a broken cable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. ‘05 997 Cab. Leaving a light a few blocks from the house I suddenly lost the ability to shift out of 1st. No unusual noises. Shifter just quit. It will move straight forward and back but not side to side. Feels like it’s not attached to anything. Is there a pin that could have come loose? Any help appreciated. Was supposed to leave on a little trip tomorrow but I’m guessing that will be delayed. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I use a Deltran Battery Tender on both of my motorcycles and the 911. Have been for years and they do a great job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. AGM it is. We also have an Eastern Penn warehouse nearby. They make the Duracell battery so I gave them a call. They have cosmetic blems of that batt for $70 and they’ll install it for me. Ive used them for several motorcycle batteries and one for my last truck with great success. On to do list for tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Looks like I’m getting close to needing a battery. Costco has Interstate for $137 and Sam’s has the Duracell AGM on sale for $144. I’m leaning towards the Duracell to get AGM. Your opinions appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Took it by the shop and looks like it’s the brake switch. I’ll search for the fix when I get to a computer. Thanks guys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. ‘05 Cab. Washed the car and backing out of the drive I get both PSM and ABS fail lights. It clears if you restart the car but comes back as soon as you brake. Any ideas? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
