  1. Hi all, I's been a while since my 986's sold. I missed Jeff, Loren, and the great Renntech gang here, so came back with 987. OK, here is my first question. The location of cigarette lighter plug in is now far away from winshield, where do you guys put your radar detector? Thanks in advance.
  2. LA Porsche Dismantlers(California) http://www.911pcar.com Sunset Imports (Portland) http://sunsetimports.com/ http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?a...ent&code=sunset
  3. Oops my bad. I was talking about bolt covers(which are loose and missing sometimes), not not the center caps. :notworthy:
  4. Personally I do not recommend LA Porsche Dismantlers. They are not good at disclosing any blemishes and their price is not bargain either. Try Senset Import, you get brand new parts for incredible prices.
  5. NOT fair! any wheel would look great with that expensive wheel center cap. ;) Seriously wheel cap covers still look very good for the price. Only problem I found is one of them is missing once in a while.
  6. Check if you properly installed the small spring & metal clip on the plastic/leather shifter handle. Just remove the clip inside of the ball itself(not the one that goes to the handle). Porsche added the clip to later year model to prevent the ball from poping out, but it makes it harder to install and it's ok without it.
  7. It IS very useful info for me, Thanks. No more velcro...
  8. $375 doesn't sound bad, but I would repair/dye it myself. With a little bit of practice, the end result is like new. (Just don't use Leatherique, they are most expensive+worst quality - their leather conditioner is great though) This way you know you can renew it next time. Just my 2c.
  9. I think I can estimate it with your picture. Thanks. BTW, no access? what happen to your car?
  10. Yes, the embossed crest on seats. I need to ask your help again...
  11. Can anyone tell me the size of Porsche crest on sports seat? Thanks in advance!
  12. Some do replace plastic window(new window will be larger), but labor cost is same. They have to remove the whole top anyway.
  13. I had both, but old one (cap1) is better in person. cap2 looks somewhat cheap and lacks some detail. IMHO.
  14. I strongly recommend 'high speed wheel balancing' with Hunter machine (GSP9700 I believe). Not many stealers have the machine, they can only do regular wheel balancing and it's just waste of money for your problem. I had same vibration at around 85 mph, now it drives better than ever, not even slightest vibration or whatsoever at any speed. I heard, in rare case, wheel bearing is the cause of the problem. But try GSP9700 first, I'm sure you will be happy again.
  15. One question, My 05 Mercdedes already has a few tiny road chips. Is it OK to install clear bra on top of touch up?
  16. Stock, blue bulbs, and Sylvania all look same to me for city driving (and in bay area highways). Blue bulbs looks more white hands down. As LVDell said, they look ricer when off (reflecting blue too much - Sylvania doesn't, but looks yellowish almost same as stock). Now I upgraded to Litronic, and can't be happier. I don't know why it took me so long to upgrade. :king:
  17. Driver side; 0. After removing 3 screws, 1, pull out the black round trim (which has labels on it) 2. Remove the nut at the center 3. Disconnect wire connector below 4. Free the switch module from the plastic housing by turning counter clockwise. Thats it. I have Porsche OEM Silver a/c vents, if interested, email me. (jinijazz@yahoo.com) Willing to accept black soft feel vents as trade in :)
  18. Take Jeff's advice seriously and remove the harness. Otherwise you may get some ugly dents. Here's how; Firstly, push 2 tabs inward and pull out the white housing. Secondly remove the harness on the other side. Save your expensive dashboard with 2 mintes work.
  19. Thanks, Loren. Thanks to your advice, I put enough anti-squeak tapes inside. I do not have 'after' pic yet, but here are before & photoshoped-after pic.
  20. Here is one! Jeff is the person to blame, I couldn't resist since I saw that picture!
  21. Thanks to Jeff Hatcher for tips & advices on removing passenger airbag. It took a whole day to replace dashboard, but I took time to do it right. I need to finish left side door, vent, etc but it was enough for a day. Going to Thunder Valley!
  22. Sorry if I misled anyone. I was trying to show that panels have to be removed ro access speaker covers. I installed Carrera door panels on Boxster, the speaker covers are installed same way.
  23. testors?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> http://www.testors.com/catalog_browse.asp?ictNbr=72
