  1. I know it sounds crazy. I ended up with black leather dashboard with perfect condition (don't ask me why bought it) and now I want to have 2 tone leather interior. Mine is Boxster Red as yours. Better forget about it? Here is my quick Photoshop draft anyway. http://www.pcars.us/albums/4043.jpg
  2. Yes whole dash board. Now I'm familar with removing/installing most of interior pieces & trims, but not sure if I can do the dashboard myself. :help:
  3. Dash speakers of hi-fi option are different from base? Thanks in advance....
  4. I got inivitation card, but couldn't make it on 19th. :( Looks like you guys were having fun, and the free dinner!
  5. Hi, Jeff and gang. Someone asked this question on the other board, but no helpful answers. I also want to replace the seat belts(black to red or silver), any DIY instructions available? More importantly, any risk of airbag or CE light turning on by doing this? Thanks for any advice, tips, or instructions!
  6. I see 3M clears out well, but does it help to remove the cloudy holding area (see the highlighted portion in the pic)?
  7. Thanks Jeff, I had the deviated airbag idea for some time, but I gave up because the red one is harder to come by. Luckly I got it, can't be happier. I also saw the red one on ebay, but I skipped it because of the included passenger airbag. Try it if you have a chance, I think it looks much better in person. Thanks again, nothing would be possible without your help!
  8. 3 spoke has been at the top of my wish list, and finally I installed today. With all the great information here and proper tools, it turned out to be less than 10 minutes job. Thanks again for the great detailed info, Jeff and all! BTW, Get long Torx screw set from Sears!
  9. OK here I'm confused. I prefer to disconnect battery, but can I still rotate the wheel with battery disconnected? Or....remove the screws first, and disconnect the battery?
  10. As always, thanks for the critical information, Jeff! I made an assumption that the air ducks are all same. Thanks for saving me $$$. (I already purchased cup holder for 3, ****) Well I got bored with my interior, trying to find something new. MOD IS DISEASE!!!
  11. disappointing, but that's what I guessed... <_< Thanks Jeff.
  12. In the picture, [1] Mine (97-02 986) (3 pieces) [2] 99-01 996 (3 pieces) [3] 02- 996 & 03- 986 (1 piece, but looks like some internal parts are required) What I'm trying to do is replace [1] with [2] or [3], but looks like [2] is the only doable option. (Correct me if I'm wrong). Besides, I'm not sure the part number I specified above(for [2]) includes left & right trim pieces as well. Any :help:
  13. I might be able to get the same kind in the picture soon. (The picture is not mine though)
  14. 996.552.131.04 A03 is the part# I got for "A" in the picture. Is it complete one part including leaft & right trim (where switches & blank buttons are)? Are "A" & "B" interchangable? :help:
  15. Is it replacable? I'd appreciate any experience or comment.
  16. This picture shows what LVDell is talking about. (But you cannot avoid this unless you go by real HID) Can you tell me more about this 'dangerous' part? Something I shouldn't ignore! thanks.
  17. Confused with all the H7 bulbs out there, I decided to purchase some and see the difference in person. (Cheap experiment as Henry sugguested) I didn't bother with non-55w bulbs due to the horrible melting problems. Here are some info I found with a little research; 1. Sylvania is whiter/brighter than Phillips. 2. Sylvania(US spec) is whiter than Osram(Euro spec), but Osram is brighter. So, Sylvania SilverStar is the whitest/brightest bulb out there? The picture below shows one with SilverStar, and the other with one of many ebay bulb that sounds promising(?). 1. Which is brighter? Honestly I can't tell. I belive they look almost same to human eyes. 2. Which is whiter? the ebay bulbs win hands down. (The picture isn't very helpful, but you can tell the difference in person.) More blue coating means whiter of course, but with almost same brightness I'd go by half priced ebay bulbs. 3. Something I cannot verify - Lifetime of these bulbs. Some say all these bulbs don't last long, others say no problem in 3 yrs. I want to hear from people who had them for some time. Overall they look much better look than ambish stock bulbs, but no comparison to HID.
  18. My Kumho, little less than 10k, has plenty of thread remaining, very quiet. In contrast, P-Zero completely gone after 15k, with crazy noise. I heard totally different experience on same tire from different people. But still i was suprised to hear you got less than 10K on Kumho.
  19. Mine is 17" and I don't do AutoX... so I'm not that qualified to reply, but here's my 2c anyway as an aggressive daily driver. Yes, Pilot Sports(my previous) is worth the money and is the best in the market IMHO. Not to mention the hard cornering, the road noise and durability is excellent. But, at the same time, Kumho(my current) is the best value. Some people make harsh comments on them just because they are cheap, but I don't think most of them ever owned them. They are little more sensitive to cold wheather & tire pressure, but you don't really care in SD. I'd stick with Kumho. If you haven't yet, try them!
  20. Do you still have the seller's contact info? (Sounds like you don't anymore...) I'd be happy with $280 airbag. I contacted Sunset and they have new one at around $457, but shipping is $50-$70 to CA. LA Porsche wants $450 + CA Tax.(not sure if it's used or new). Well my 4 spoke wheel looks BIGGER & UGLIER today. :drive:
  21. I'm one of you, Jeff  Yes $76 was pretty cheap considering it's brand new. Looks like everyone that I know of has 3 spoke wheel only and waiting to bid on airbag. It's terrible that you have to outbid RennTech friends...I think we have to do group purchase or something.
  22. J9000, I did the door carpet(to leather) myself and it's easy to do. As long as you can remove the door panel, it can be done. 1. Remove the door panel (RennTech has the instruction) 2. Remove the door carpet: the best way to do this is using spoon. It took some time to do the first door, but the second took several minutes after figuring out the spoon trick. 3. Use 3M spray to put your vinyl/leather/carpet. use some towel to flat out. Be patient for professional result. (Need 2 person) Yes Jeff, the interior carpet was replaced with black by local upholstery and I should have done that myself. (Thank you for the great instructions, I just couldn't remove the bolts on seats with my tools!). My next project is to replace the ugly 4 spoke steering wheel.
  23. I just replaced the door carpet(bottom portion which I hate most!) with leather that I purchased from local shop. It's just cosmetic change, but it looks way better in person IMHO. Just an idea for those who are looking for another mod.
  24. Today I tried Hwy280(vibration in Hwy101 where I commute). I pulled the steering wheel all the way toward me before driving to see it makes any difference. OK it sounds somewhat ridiculous, but guess what. NO VIBRATION whatsoever up to 110mph. So it's merely about road condition or steering wheel position has to do with it. I will try again Hwy101 again tomorrow with agjusted steering wheel position to see what happens.
