Yep, I am using regular LEDs in my 2006 Boxster, surprisingly no error. This is the one I am using and it has built in heat sink

If there is LED fever, there must be some good reason, and here is the major one. Color Temperature. Most modern cars are coming out with "whiter lighting".

I myself replaced all internal bulbs and license plate bulbs with LEDs, the difference is huge. Once you see the difference, there is no going back. I even added Philips LED Daytime running iight, and it turned out to be one of my favorite mods of all time.

But some bulbs are not ready for LED just yet, and one of them is parking light. I recommend Polarg M4 to match with your OEM HID rather than LED. If you insist, you can always buy canbus 194 LED bulbs rather than attach external resistor.

There are many solution for iPad/iPhone mount, but I do not want to attach ugly mount to windshield or glue to my leather dash. So I came up with home grown solution and wanted to post here and share my idea. You can mount iPhone vertically or horizontally. I do not carry iPad, but it looks really good when I put iPad for TomTom app. Just an idea.

Has any experienced moving Boxster horizontal side grilles to Cayman vertical grilles at air intake side level ? :huh:

I bought them to replace mine, but I decided not to. I prefer Boxster's silver grills.

The Speed Yellow Cayman's grills are collecting dust somewhere in my garage since then. :rolleyes:

It's been a long time since I posted something here, and I came back home in need of some help.

My 2006 Boxster has been very reliable since new, but recently it shows the first issue when the top is closing as shown in the picture(btw, it's not my pic, I found it somewhere on the net). If I stop at service position while closing first, then the top close just fine. Just in time out of warranty. :censored:

Speedster hump: You cannot not operate top with them on. Too much hassle after a while. My honest advice: Sell.

It would be an easy decision for me. 05 987 for sure.

Conventional wisdom says get the newest model you can afford.

In fact, 987 is much better car in my experience. In & out. Nearly everything.

But some people prefer 986 because of side air vent :rolleyes: , so to each own.

(Don't get me wrong. I'd take 986 over any other roaster in the same price range.)

If you want to go by 986, get 03 model at least.

Window vs Plastic is huge, and other performance & cosmetic upgrades too.

Actually I don't think it looks lame. They match well with the front bumper as Techart style.

But I do agree with Chuck dental floss is the best way, if you decided to take them out.

I had my previous 986 painted in red with duplicolor, and now want yellow on my current 987 to match with exterior color.

The problem is all caliper paint I can find is "bright" yellow, doesn't quite match with speed yellow.

Q1. The paint spray from paintscratch.com can be used for caliper? If it's not a good idea, anyone has a picture of speed yellow with the bright yellow caliper?

Q2. Which clear coat should I use?

I saved Paul's instruction for 996/986 Sport Seat(great instructions BTW), but 997/987 must be a little different with those side airbags and all. This mod is on the top of my wish list.

Off topic, but for those who are curious;

I just bought 986 aluminum guage rings, they don't fit 987.

Center ring does, but side ones don't. <_<

I really like Duplicolor High Temp Engine paint. (Spray).

I've seen some people did nice job with brush, but still didn't look rirght inperson. Big no no to me.

Every time my MY99 996 C2 is started the climate control shows a emperature and fan reading, in other words is on, even if I have turned it off. Is this normal, how can I make the climate control keep how it was when the ca was truned off?

It's normal and there's no way to keep it turned off. (I hated too)

I know MY99 986 did that and I'm pretty sure it's same with 996

This is a big assumption on my part, but does Porsche make touch-up paint for the volcano grey interior trim inside of the car? And if so, what is the part number? I would love to have some matching paint for a headunit trim panel I need to create for a double-din in-dash navigation unit.

Adding a related question, what about Galvano Silver(all silver interior trims in 987)? Anyon has info?

Someone at dealer told me, for my 987, I have to disconnect AND WAIT at least about an hour before I remove the seats.

Just curious. Are you trying to remove amber or paint inside (matching ext color)?
