  1. Thanks, Loren, checked there looks like one member has one however his inbox is full. Any other takers?
  2. Hi All, I'm having a locking issue in my boxster and have been told I need to have the car read by a Porsche diagnostic tool. I was wondering if anyone from this area knows of an independent shop that services Porsche aside from the stealership? I'd like to tackle the fix myself but want to get the car read to ensure i'm not barking up the wrong tree. Thanks for the help. Roger
  3. Thanks Loren, i'll take a look around, see if I can find as shop in the area that has the diagnostic tool. I tried the three times to the right thing and no luck the car just sounds it's horn twice and the passenger side never locks. I might try a post on here and see if anyone knows of an independent shop that would have this tool in the Boston area. Aside from the authorized Porsche dealership of course.
  4. Thanks, i'm going to give the three times to the right thing a try and see where that gets me. From what i've been reading on here it does sound like the door lock micro switch. Is there a way to test this part independently with an ohms meter or something? I'd like to avoid going to the stealership if at all possible. Thanks for the help!
  5. Hi All, Wanted to check and see if anyone else has had this issue. When I lock the car with the key by placing it in the drivers door and turning it to the right the car seems like its about to lock but then beeps twice and the intrior light comes on for a short period of time. I then check the door and the drivers side door is locked however the passenger side is not. The key fob is not working either and hasn't since i've owned the car (approx. 1 month) which seems like a common issue from the posts i've read. It will not lock/open or pop the trunk. Possibly needs reprogramming from what i've read but it seems like I should still be able to manually lock the car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Roger
  6. Thanks Maurice! I reconnected the microswitch and just as you stated I was then able to get the clamshell to operate. Appreciate the help. Roger
  7. Hi All, I'm new to the forum and Porsche ownership. I purchased a 97 boxster with 52,000 miles on it recently and am very excited to get out there and drive it, once the weather in Massachusetts warms up that is. I've read through the forum and there is so much great info, I know this is going to be a great resource as I work my way through my new toy. The issue i'm having currently is with the top. I had a cracked rear window on the car when I purchased it so I removed the top and assembly to take to an upholstery shop to have a new window sewn in. I had the top in "service mode" and was able to remove the top and frame without issue. The problem is instead of leaving the top in service mode with the clam shell open (as I should have) I lowered the clam shell without refitting the top and now for the life of me cant get it to re open. I'm sure this is a result of not having the top on the car since it opened and closed fine before but I cant re install the top until I get the clam shell to open back up. Any help for this first time boxster owner would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Roger
