  1. As some of you guys might know I did an oil change after only about 10 miles due to my suspicion that the indy mech. had filled my car with 5W-30 instead of 0W-40. After draining my oil, I noticed that there were metal flakes in the drained oil.. they look kinda squareish like glitter... silver in color...

is this ok? My car only has 7200 miles on it!

you might want to save the oil and get an analysis done.

i beleive that someone by the name of turner on rennlist does this.

i would also send/save a sample and send it off to pcna.

  2. I have been quoted a 3 year extention on my 4 year factory waranty for $3800 Cdn. I must decide in the next couiple of weeks because the car must have in excess on 1 month waranty left on it to be eligible.

Probably going to go for it. The policy is underwritten by a company that I recognize from way back. If you don't make any claims, you get the principle back. Sound weird but I guess its like a mega deductable to dicourage claims.

    Eric

I just got this quote from this company below

    Vehicle: 1999 Porsche 911

    Mileage: 58,600

Plan: W4W Super Plus listed component coverage

Term: 4 years from today and 60,000 additional miles on the odometer.

    Deductible: $100

Features: Wear and tear, towing, rental car, road- side assistance, seals & gaskets and full parts and labor replacement are included. Based on contract guidelines.

    Discounts: $2,700.00

Payments: $305.00 down and 12 monthly payments of $228.75

    Valid until: June 11, 2006

this is from Warranties 4 Wheels

Anybody have experience with them? Do you think is a good deal?

Called the same company, w4w, got the exact same quote.

    btw-my car is a 2000 c2 w/13700 miles.

also got a follow up phone call today.

i think he was looking for an instant sale.

while i have no problem with that, i gotten into the habit of not making too many instant decisions

so i think i would have liked a day or so to digest the info before any contact.

minor point, but i just hate being bombarded by telephone solicitors.

  3. 1. Correct. That is documented here.

    2. Correct also. We've found it best to tighten it down - then back off until it freely moves back and forth in neutral.

    3. Correct again. Once the console is re-installed there is no way to adjust the B&M shifter without either removing the console again or making a cutout in the console. I usually make folks drive around the block a couple time with the console still out to make sure it set to the tightness they want. Then we button it up again. BTW... I've never seen one that needed adjusting again - including mine which I installed in 2000.

so i take it that the b&m unit is superior to the porsche unit?

in terms of materials and or installation?

    drove a short shift b&m car---great!

  4. just found that ghl has a money back guarantee as posted on pelican partshttp://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/996M/POR_996M_EXHprf_pg1.htm#item0

having just heard in person the oem pse, i have all but made up my mind to get it.

has anyone seen a legitimate better prince than brandywine @ $1499 as advertsed in excellence?

one a scale of 1-10, 10 being the hardest, what is the installation for one of these units?

  5. I am just getting ready to buy it ... brandywine sells it for 1499 w/ electronics. Also, I just read a post (unconfirmed) that they have an add in Excellence w/ a price of 1299.

tell you what, you seach, i'll seach, we can keep each other posted.

while i am not quite ready to buy something ( i have to listen to at least the pse, fabspeed, and ghl if i can find one ) i'll keep the list informed. :lightbulb: :lightbulb: :lightbulb:

  6. Found this on eBay, and was wondering if anyone here had tried it on their plastic window.

If not, what solution do you recommend for removing the haze from a 5 year old plastic window?

    Thanks,

    Todd
