  1. sometimes you can just unplug the connectors under the seat and re-plug them back in with some contact cleaner. But they will come back on after a time.
  2. Vibrations can travel and the sound can appear in different areas. I had that kind of noise it turned out to be a stuck ring causing a fowled plug if was found by using a leak down test.
  3. I run a quick test on suspension bushings by spraying with a Teflon spray do not use a petroleum based spray that will destroy the rubber. if the noise goes away after a couple miles replace those parts if not go to the next set of bushings, always replace in pairs.
  4. The odometer is liquid xtal, The connections for LCD tougher to reconnect you may have a back light out but I think some dealer rowed it back, I got a back light out on my clock if I shine a flash light on it I can see the digits.
  5. Also check for a kinked hose, I had that problem after is replaced the evp valve. The comment on gas at 75% was that while filling the tank. if it is a C4 turn the gas nozzle upside down and it will fill ok.
  6. Check the module under the drivers seat for corrosion on the connectors. It could be the problem if it ever got wet even with carpet cleaning. this module is the alarm, auto window controls, lock conrols and immobilizer cpu
  7. If you have access to an machine shop they can make you the bolt to pull off the pulley, All the companies. I worked for had machine shop / prototype shop. I have been able to hold the engine from turning by removing the access panel to check the flywheel place a small wrecking bar, (don't know correct name maybe nail puller) a bar looking like a cane / shepherds hook. Use this by placing the curved end into the flywheel teeth then turn engine to lock it in place.
  8. Which window was open to the rain? Weird things happen when the alarm module gets wet it is located under the drivers seat. I don't think the brake pad sensors are routed thru it, I had a real hard time to follow a the circuits that pass though it. but any connector that gets water in it can do weird things.
  9. MY2001C4 is a ragtop, the added height will help me meet the requirements for Hip replacements precautions, I will look at the web site you provided and will get in touch with you for the extenders you have if I feel I can use them, Will have one of my buds take some measurements using the specifications of those extenders. will contact you next week, Thanks
  10. I just had Hip Replacement, and need the dimensions of the drivers seat rail so I can have a adaptor plate made to move the seat further back and two inches higher. I need the front bolt size, location and angle, locating Pin and rear bolt location and angle if any. It will be 6 weeks before I can measure my seat rail, but with the info I can have the adaptors made so I can get into my 2001 C4 Cab. Thank you much for taking the time to do this. Or if someone has a drawing of the bottom pan or know where I can download one would also do.
  11. check the rain drain's blow them clear, also check the alarm computer under the drivers seat. mine got damp and the immobilizer quit car didn't want to start, starter didn't engage. if the windows go down by them self and or alarm goes off. It may be to late.
  12. I tried this on my Z3M roadie, and no cruise control, adding a resistor across the brake light took a very high wattage low resistance part, normal resistors burned out, one regular bulb and one led worked but looked weird, one brighter then the other.
  13. Does the professional version allow me to program the keys? My Alarm module M535 got wet, drying it out fixed everything but the immobilizer, Will buy a new one but it will require programming of the keys, Would have to have it towed to Porsche shop with a PIWIS to have it programmed, Some shops want to provide the module also. So if any one knows if it can code the keys let me know, I checked the matrix and for a 2001 C4 it showed no on the alarm, but the Boxer with the same Module it said yes. Thanks in advance
  14. Does any one have a remote start device on their 996? My M535 module got wet and is having start problems after drying out, so if the remote start works maybe I can override the problem so I can get it to a shop to check out the module, The Durametric shows nothing. will need a PST 2 or better to find out why no control voltage on the start, ECM, FI relays.
  15. This module got wet and starter will not turn over, I soaked it in rice for 24 hours, cleaned it with pcb cleaner reinstalled it, only thing I could not check was the immobilizer, the start relay and DME. wouldn't energize. Does any one know if it can be checkout/ tested out of the car?
  16. The cup holders are broke, bits of plastic are gone, they don't close. If you want them they are yours as soon as I get them out undamaged.
  17. I'm new to the C4 and plan on getting new tires, in the old days 4 wheel drive vehicles the front drive always ran faster then the rears for control. I have not been able to find the final drive ratios for a 2001 C4, the standard tire sizes with 18 inch rims the front has a OD of 25.0 and rear 25.3 is this how Porsche makes the front turn faster? if so by changing tire sizes I could effect over or under steer of the vehicle?
  18. I'm planning on installing a Multi function double din radio, are they any instructions on how to remove the cup holders.
