  1. After owning my 53 Cayenne turbo for 6 months i have decided to get a brand new car. so this weeknd i pick up my new Panamera Diesel 'Kahn Black Label Edition' and i cant wait :) After taking one for a spin a few days ago, i can tell its gonna take some getting used to, what with the difference in driving position and the loss of turbo grunt, but im really exited to get a brand new motor, and exited about filling up once a week insted at every garage i pass! i wish it was a turbo, but funds dont stretch that far so this will have to do for now. Anything i should know about it, and little tips n tricks? Vapist
  2. after 6 months of owning the cayenne im now moving over to a new panamera can cant wait! ok its only a diesel that im getting and will miss the turbos power but hey the panny is brand new and i cant wait! vapist
  3. cheers, i've donr that so hopefully thats the end of the volume issue! still dont know whats going on with the CD changer tho...its opening no and i can load cds in the magazine but PCM says no disc or no magazine, i cant get it to work :( vapist
  4. had it in today, new driveshafts fitted and the problem has gone. £800 all in including a full service. more bad news tho... asked him to check if the cookant pipes were aluminium ones...sadly not and after all the reading im terrified they mite busrt so it looks like thats then next job. also, found the cd changer. loaded CDs and now the **** thing wont open and PCM say no cartridge detected grrr vapist
  5. my local mechanic testdrove the cae and said cv joints, however he was told its better to change the drive shafts rather than just cv joints so the parts have ordered and arrived along with the service parts. Its going in on monday to be done. Fingers crossed, that will put an end to the issue! on another note, my PCM seems to have an Issue, both the radio and CD player turns the volume updand down by itself! CDs seem to skip about 4 times per song like they are scratched, but theyre not. weird whats the issue there then? Vapist ps thanks for the input so far
  6. the tyres are brand new, its definatley not the tyres. I'd describe the noise as a continuous clicking/creaking noise that is louder if you accelerate more when you turn. if you turn really slow it can still be heard from inside the car but as i say the faster you go the louder it is. lemme go have a read of that link. my local mechanic is going to have a look tomorrow, hes not a porsche specialist so i hoping its a problem he can see easily and rectify for me. Also, what would you reccomend is do service wise as this car came with no service history. what i mean is apart from oil change, oil filter & air filter, what other things do you reccomend i do. Transmission fluid? spark plugs? brake fluid? on a brighter note, im really happy the setting off in second gear is a none issue :) vapist
  7. my usual regular mechanic recons i should replace the driveshaft. how does that sound? vapist
  8. 1 is most likely the lower control arms which need new bearings at this age the humming needs more of a definition by you, where, what frequency 2 It starts in second for fuel economy and in first when cold to heat the cats up as fast as possible to get emissions under control Dont know anyone over there but there will be someone, look for german car specialists when you say 'lower control arms' is this the actual name of the part? just so i can see what they are likley to cost. thanks Vapist
  9. Thanks for the replys guys :) this morning when i started the car and knocked it into D it selected 1st gear, just as mentioned here, but after that every time i came to a stop it would select 2nd. So, if this is normal thats a weight of my mind, one transmission company had suggested a new valve body costing £1200-1400gbp! Before this cayenne turbo, i had a Touareg 2.5 TDI, i know this car DID select 1st gear after coming to a stop, is this because it was a deisel engine? regarding the clicking or problem 1... a local garage has said CV joints and prop shaft. as i dont really know does this sound like a posibility? the hummimng sound is quite low, and coming from the front wheel area. I had a rover years ago that had a similar humming noise only much louder and from what i can remember that was somthing to do with bearings. thanks for the info/advice guys. vapist
  10. hi guys, i need help from those in the know! I just bought a 2003 cayenne. It has so far after 24 hours 2 big problems from what i can tell.... 1) clicking noise when turning either left or right, also a slight humming sound from the front when traveling over 30mph 2) auto gearbox dosent shift to 1st gear when coming to a stop. it changes to 2nd and thats the lowes it goes! you can select 1st form the gear controls on the wheel, but the semi-auto stick shift dosent seem to work. what id like to know is your opinion on the probable cause of the above issues and also an estimated cost. im in the northwest of england, so if anyone knows somewhere good who are 'cheap' but know what they are doing that would be a bonus. cheers vapist
