    For use on the track,

fix the oil pressure problem these cars have. A 2qt deep sump isn’t enough though. Check your oil pressure on a 270 degree highway on ramp with rpms at or above 3400 rpm and 15 min of highway driving speeds immediately beforehand. You will see what I mean.

What solution do you recommend? I am very interested in this too.

  2. Hello, 2007 997.1 C4S here, Arizona daily driver with ~80,000 miles. Took it for a few autocross and track days a 6-7 years ago, but not much recently, other than I enjoy spirited street driving and cornering.

When should I replace the shocks? I assume they get tired with age and miles.  By the way, the two hood and one engine compartment lid hydraulic supports gave out within a year of each other. I realize the suspension shock are different, nonetheless I was just wondering if there is a natural life to them?

I would be looking for Bilstein B4's (I have PASM), but was wondering what is the difference between the B4 and the B6?

    Many thanks.

  3. Thanks @wizard. I did find that the engine compartment temp sensor is loose. Can't find where it attaches, so it is possible the grommet or rubber sleeve within which it sits is lost now. Will get one from a dealer.

More concerning, as I inspected the engine, I noticed signs of a leak. My AOS was replace a few months ago, and then I don't remember seeing these leaks. The body of the power steering tank is wet and there seems to be some liquid pooling on top of the compressor below it. Further the lines shown in the photos also seem to leak (AC lines??). what do you make of this? Thanks

  4. After driving 20-30 minutes in warm (100-110F) weather, I have a “failure of compartment blower” error with a flashing light in the top end of the water thermometer. There is no additional specific error code. Oil temp is 200-210, water is 175F.

When I stop and turn the engine off the blower is running and keeps running for another 20-30 minutes.

This is a 2007 997.1 C4S, bone stock, 72,000 miles, runs well, water pump and thermostat replaced preventively at 60K by dealer.

Any advice on how to handle this? Is this a sensor problem? Thank you all.

  6. My bone-stock 2007 997.1 C4S with 71k miles is my daily driver, and the last few days it has a big puff of blueish smoke upon engine startup which then clears in a few seconds. The smoke occurs in the morning (cold start) and also on warm restart. I searched on Google and found that these engines can burn a little oil etc, but strangely enough it hasn't done this for 11 years and 70k miles, so I am thinking something is wrong. Coolant is not low. Car maintained at the dealership, except for oil changes which I do myself every 5000 miles.

Also has P2187/2189, which it had before and I cleared it with Durametric thinking it's the gas cap. Maybe I am imagining it but the exhaust is a little more hoary than before.

    Any ideas? Thanks guys.

  7. CEL went off over the weekend, Durametric showed a P2190 code.

Car is a 2007 C4S coupe w/ Tip at 69,000 miles. Basically bone stock, serviced at the dealer.

After checking with Durametric I opened the hood and noticed that the hose clamp connecting the wide Y hose from the airbox onto the intake manifold came loose. So I though there is a vacuum leak, took off the airbox, replaced the airfilter, cleaned the MAF. noticed a few ml of oil-like fluid inside the throttle body just at the level of the butterfly flap; so I cleaned that up. Tightened oil fill and gas caps. Reconnected everything, cleared the code but now it came back a day later. I have an appointment with the dealer in a few days.

Any suggestions what I can do to maybe fix this on my own? Many thanks

  8. 2007 C4S with Tip and 58,000 miles

My CEL came on yesterday, due to codes 2187/2189. After a brief search on the internet,  loose oil/gas caps came up as possible causes. So I cleared the codes and tightened the caps, but the CEL came back a few  hours later.

I also just noticed last night that, when idling in Park, it revs at ~1,100. In Drive with the break on and the car not moving (no pressure on the gas pedal) the idle revs drop to normal (around 700-800). Also the idle is a little rough. Any ideas what causes this? Thank you all.

  9. Agree they need to match (have MPSS on all four currently), but they wear at different rates. I drive about 12,000 mi per year, do one or two DE days per year (with the street tires), so I replace the rears more frequently than the fronts. Now, for the first time I will be forced to use Pirellis but don't want to replace all four as I don't want to waste the fronts that still have half the thread.

Which non Michelin tires come close to the MPSS?

  10. I need to replace the rear tires on my 2007 C4s and it turns out the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are completely unavailable, with no ETA. Even if one makes allowance for the odd size and likely small demand, that is still pretty shocking. What alternative have you tried and what do you recommend? Car is a daily driver, street driven, I value quiet running (not that our cars are *that* quite, but would rather not add running noise).
