  1. I had similar problem...every now and then the blower would work...I didn't know if it was the A/C and heater blower motor or if it was the blower motor regulator. To test your blower motor...you'll have to remove it to visually inspect it and turn it to see if it moves smoothly, if it doesn't move smoothly...then the bearings are likely shot...if there is black residue, then the motor is probably gone or is going. The regulator makes is so you can have different temperatures in each zone...my problem was i didn't get any air regardless of heat or A/C...therefore, I chose to replace the motor first and then the regulator if necessary. Lucky for me when I replaced the motor is fixed all of the issues. Here is a link to the plower motor and regulator at Pelican Parts. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperCat/1078/POR_1078_VENTHT_pg1.htm#item2 I hope this helps. Good luck!
  2. I have the same thump and took it to a local porsche garage (not the dealer), after spending $155 to diagnose they gave me a copy of the TSB dated April 18, 2006 that is titled "Noise- from the front end of the transfer case"...just goes to show information is valuable. The TSB recommends the replacement of the transfer case control unit and the garaage quoted me $750 to install. Suncoast parts has a repair package named "PTM Transfer Gear Servo Motor Update" for $1072.82 , however, it comes with a new gear servo motor. I contacted the parts department and they say that this is a package deal because this is the recommended repair, my local repair guy disagrees and says that just the control unit needs to be replaced.. When I asked Suncoast how much the control unit would be by itself, they quoted $350+ tax and shipping...and emphasized no refunds. In speaking with the local repair guy, and asking my strategic questions, he said the replacement is a simple plug and play and is accessible from under the passenger seat. Sounds like a total DIY taks...I haven't gotten around to doing this myself...however, now that it's back on my mind (because of your post) I think I'll go ahead and order the transfer case control unit and replace it to see if that resolves the fix...I hope this helps you out. 3. Hey srfrdrew, I am going to be tackling this project on my '05 Cayenne S...how long did it take you complete this job and now that it's freshly behind you, any advice/suggestions you can give me. Thanks.
  4. I followed the instructions to this tutorial. It took me a total of about 6 hours...I didn't use all of the tools suggested and I do have one main suggestion...After I cut out / broke out the existing plastic coolant pipes I didn't use any chisel or screwdriver to get the pressure rings out. Instead I used a 12" pry bar to wedge them out...Using the pry bar it took me less than a minute to get each pressure ring out. good luck.
  5. Thanks for the help. I Discovered loose connection on cylinder 5 fuel injector. Easy enough fix. Thanks again.
  6. I found the part number in another post...it was for a 2004 Cayenne S...the plugs are Bosche FGR6KQE.At the time I am posting this they are $8.24 per plug from Amazon.com.
  7. I am located in California, USA and have a '05 Cayenne S. Can anyone please provide me the recommended spark plug replacement part number? Thanks in advance.
  8. I was about to purchase the Durametric Diagnostic Cable. However, I did a Google search for "Porsche diagnostic cable" and I discovered a generic cable and software at this site http://www.obd16.com/wholesale/new-porsche-piwis-cable-2256.html. Does anyone have knowledge about how the generic cable works in comparison to the Durametric Brand...does is accomplish the same functions?
  9. I have a '05 Cayenne S. I changed my coolant pipes on 10/20/13 (followed the instructions in on this site) and I changed the spark plugs around Oct 2012 (less than 10k miles ago) using NGK BKR6EGP G-Power Spark Plugs.. I'm receiving the following multiple errors: P0205 - Fuel Injector, Cylinder 5 - Open Circuit P0300- Misfire Detection Checksum Error P0304- Misfire Detection, Cylinder 4 (Bank 1) P0305- Misfire Detection, Cylinder 5 (Bank 2) P0406- Misfire Detection, Cylinder 6 (Bank 2) P0308- Misfire Detection, Cylinder 8 (Bank 2) My First thought was to switch out the spark plugs again and replace the fuel injector for Cylinder 5. However, before doing that I thought I would turn to this forum for suggestions on how to troubleshoot my issues...wondering if their could be other issues as hand that would cause these multiple errors. If you think that changing out the spark plugs is a good next step, can anyone tell me what the recommended replacements are? A Porsche Certified mechanic said to use Bosche Platinum plugs and by not using them could cause misfires. Anyone agree with this assessment? Thank you
