  1. Just did this myself. Very easy job on the V6. Used VW Part #022 905 715B for the coils and NGK plugs. For crossreference here is my thread - http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/45693-05-base-cayenne-6-speed-cel-codes-p0300-and-p0302/
  2. Had a similar situation on my V6 cayenne. Threw a misfire for only 1 cyl , so replaced that and everything seemed fine for about 40 miles. Then she threw a cel for 2 more cylinders. Ended up replacing all 6 and no issues since. Good luck!
  3. Put about about 600 miles on the new plugs/coils. So far so good. Very important to keep up with plug/coil maintenance.
  4. Sounds like you are having alot of fun. Congrats and enjoy!
  5. Update - Replaced all coils, plugs , reset cel and shes purring like a kitten. Went for a nice long ride everything checks out. Will be putting some more miles this weekend for a true test. Pics of my night... My babies outside in the cold :( - Cayenne is in the garage under investigation. -removed the plastic cover -pulled off all the coil pack connectors using a tool i devised (bent wire) -unbolted all of the spark plugs using a 16mm socket with about a 12" extension New Spark Plugs OEM NGK's Looks Like someone has been in there before me.. coil pack 1 &2 from the left are from the car the 1st one on the left is the original VW part # 022 905 100L while the middle and the one on the right (new coil pack) are new VW part #'s 022 905 715B. Old coil packs are showing alot of wear as well as the spark plugs
  6. Thank you for your post PTEC. My Cayenne has 114,000 miles at this point and I have been the owner since 72,000. The plugs have not been replaced during my ownership. My wife is picking up plugs and the rest of the coils as we speak. I will update once everything has been swaped.
  7. Looks like you had a similar issue with your V8. How many differen misfire codes did you log at the time?
  8. Loren - the part # you mention is for an S/Turbo Cayenne. My base Cayenne (05 6speed 3.2 V6) shows part # 955-602-101-05
  9. Update - Replaced coil pack on cylinder 2 and reset the the check engine. The Cayenne ran fine for about 50 miles and started idling rough again and threw another cel. This time I am showing P0300, P0301 and P0304. IS it safe to say that all coils/plugs have to be replaced or is there something else wrong?
  10. Hello Everyone, My 05 Cayenne (base 6 speed manual) just threw cel codes p0300 and P0302. I did some research and it looks like i should start with replacing the coil pack on cylinder 2. Is this correct? For refernce I am attaching a diagram of which cylinder is which - thank you Loren for providing this.
  11. UPDATE: Just got my relay - took only a second to replace. Blinkers are functional once again! Special thanks to Hilux2400 & Flakarter for their support on this subject.
  12. narkose - The headlights have not been removed. - but I may check that out when the relay gets here seems fairly easy to remove it http://www.c-speedr.com/howto/996headlight/996headlight.php JFP in PA - All bulbs seem to be stock. I am fairly confident that this is not a bulb related issue since the whole system stops working when this occurs. Neither of the directional turn on (left nor right), and the hazard switch does nothing when engaged (just the triangle on the button glows). This has to be something with in the circuit itself that cuts functionality to the flasher system and concludes me to believe it is flasher relay/hazard button related. That and I have done some searching on this topic and it seems others have been successful with either replacing the button or the relay. P.S. Had to fix another problem the other day and a major one at that or so I thought - the key got stock in the ignition and wouldnt pull out, I was able to pry it out and then the car wouldnt shut off :-/. I was thinkinng all sorts of things until I found the following: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Porsche-996-997-Carrera/86-ELEC-Replacing_Your_Ignition_Switch_Steering_Lock/86-ELEC-Replacing_Your_Ignition_Switch_Steering_Lock.htm Thankfully a buddy of mine works at the local Audi dealership and was able to source me the electrical part of the ignition switch that was ordered by a customer for an A6 but never picked up. Charged me only 10 bucks too! Replacing the switch was fairly easy and what a relief i had after everything was back together. Never experienced something like this in any of my other cars. But it was interesting I will tell you that. Just thought I would share.
  13. No I did not. Just waiting on the relay to be shipped. Why do you ask?
  14. When ever the blinkers stop working the Hazard switch doesn't work either. The only part of the hazard switch that seems to be functional when this occurs is the red triangle being illuminated when the head lights are on. Just did some research on the relay seems a fairly easy and cheap part to source. http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/971-blinker-doesnt/?hl=%2Bblinker+%2Brelay#entry4285 Will try that first.
  15. Hello everyone, Glad to be part of the community. Recently purchased a 2001 996 - 68K on the clock. Love the car! So far I replaced the battery. The alternator bracket snapped so I had to replace that (aka water bracket) along with the serpentine belt and and ofcourse the oil filler neck. Changed the oil as well. One issue I can't seem to figure out and I am leading to believe it is the hazzard switch but wanted to be sure before I start digging around is that the blinkers seem to work and not work. Some times I flip the blinker on and it works some times it doesnt (this is for both turn signals). Sometimes the issue goes away for almost a week and then comes back. This has been happening since day 3 of me driving her. What could this be? Thanks in advance! Some pics...
  16. Worked like a charm. Love how it retained my presents too. Thank you!
