  1. I have a faulty pcm 2.1 and 2 shops couldn't fix it... I am driving without music for more than 4 month... I have a spare cdr-23 from another cayenne, but i get an PROTECT error. As i know the car can not recognise the unit because the VIN and options in my car are different. i removed the DVD drive by putting an optic fiber bridge. I don't use the navigation and i think i might sell the car in the near future so i don't want to spend a fortune to make the obsolete PCM 2.1 working... Is it possible to code the car with PIWIS so that the car could recognise the CDR-23? P.s. my car came standard with BOSE and pcm 2.1 with CDC4 changer
  2. Hello everybody, Recently our 996 engine started making akward ticking noise as if the engine was totalled. The milage is 100k km and I was not surprised of this problem after reading stories about 3.4 porsche engines. My mechanic took the engine apart and found that the water pump was broken and the noise was from the pump (thank God!). However he found metal particles inside the engine and found another problem: one rod bearing was completely worn (i guess the rod was spun) . I don't see the point to put a new engine which is half the price of the car, and I think it is possible to repair it? My father bought the car new back in 2000 and he never over-revved it. The car is very exclusive with rare options and i want to keep it... So going to the question: Is it possible to resurface the crankshaft and buy oversized rod set? where can I buy them? Thank you in advance, Best regards, Fabian P.s. sorry for my english:)
  3. I think i found the issue. I circled it in red. is it possible that the soldered connections melted from heat and connected together? Sorry for my english, it's difficult to explain...
  4. I guess that is truth... I couldn't manage to find any type of internal diagrams of any PCM or CDR unit. Sadly i'll have to ship the unit to UK or Germany which will be very expensive. However, I bought cdr23 unit for less than 70USD in case PCM will be unrepairable.
  5. Thank you for your help! I registered but i could not find the specific document that I need. Do you know the exact name of the document/diagram?
  6. Any news? I have the same problem with the same unit as IBEQUIP...
  7. Hello, I am new to the forum. I have a 2006 Cayenne S which i love, however I can not enjoy it now because of a faulty PCM 2.1 ... During the end of the summer it was restarting from time to time (twice in a month or so). I thought it was overheating after reading this forum. Few month ago the situation got worse and the unit was restarting every hour. Sometimes it was impossible to turn it on for couple of hours/days. Now the PCM is completely dead and it's impossible to turn it on in any ways. I was hoping that it will be case of dry solder so I tried to reheat it with heat gun... However that did not help... Is there any chance to get CIRCUIT DIAGRAM ? I have a good friend which is an electrician, but he was not able to find the current/voltage leak. There is nearly impossible to get this unit fixed in Lithuania. Thanks, Fabian
